Does it come with the DVI cable?

Mine came with cables for DVI, VGA, and auxilary cable. It wasn't terribly long though, probably about 4'. Had to rearrange my desk so it would reach my desktop on the floor.

Does this monitor work with a dual monitor system and is there volume control on the front of the monitor?

Accepted Answer

The monitor works great in a dual monitor configuration. Of course, you'll need two! I haven't used the built-in speakers, but the audio controls are embedded in the pop-up menu that appears and is navigated with the buttons on the lower right front of the monitor. There is a convenient 1/8" audio plug in the back that receives the audio signal from your computer or laptop.

Is this glossy or matte?

I am not sure what you are referring to, the bezel or the screen.  The bezel is matte.  It is a very dark gray, not a pure black.  The screen looks like it is an anti glare screen and does not reflect lights etc.

Question 4

What is the maximum height this monitor can be adjusted on the stand? If you could give the height from the desk to the bottom of the monitor that'd be great :)

Landscape the max is 8" from the desk to bottom of the monitor.  Turned portrait it is 3 and 5/8".  It can slide lower but those are the highest points.  Hope that helps.

How important is it for a monitor to have an HDMI connection?

By using the HDMI connection, you get audio through the monitor's speakers as well as HD video to the monitor through the one HDMI cable.
If you don't want to use the monitor's speakers, a DVI connection will deliver just the HD video through a DVI cable.

I bought this monitor but can't seem to get it adjusted quite right.  For those that own it, can you share the settings that you are using?  Thanks, much appreciated.

I have color temp set to user, with all 3 values at 50, and then I also have both brightness and contrast set at 50. Basically, everything down the middle. Out of the box, I found the default setting a bit too much for my tastes, so I dialed back the brightness and contrast. But, I spend most of my day writing code, so I prefer lower eye strain to more accurate colors. For all I know, this could be the perfect setting; I do know it works well for my needs...

Question 7

For those of you using this as a second screen on a Mac, have you been able to get the colors to match on both screens? I have a MacBook Air and no matter how much tuning I did, I could not get a 24" Asus monitor to get the same colors as my laptop's screen so this is something I'm a bit concerned about.

This may be impossible due to the 2 monitors being unique items. They were made by different companies at different times & most likely to different specs. You may get reasonably close but I'd expect you'd never get them to match perfectly....
