this is 144 hz? do you know where can i find 144 hz and 4k monitor?

Accepted Answer

No this is not 144hz. The marketing on this line of products is extremely deceptive. The 4k model is 60hz and is not capable of 3D gaming. The  1080p model is the 144hz model, though it shares a very similar model name as the 4k.

As far as I know, there are no monitors on the market capable of doing more than 60hz at 4k. In fact, it's only relatively recently that monitors even broke 30hz at 4k

Does this screen have HDMI 2.0 ports? Or are they the old standard?

This monitor is equipped with a G-Sync module. Currently the only display standard supported by G-Sync is Display Port 1.2. The monitor is equipped with a single Display Port input and 4 USB hub connections for USB powered devices.

Question 3

do lower (than 4K) resolutions offer refresh rates higher than 60Hz with this monitor? eg. If you lower the resolution to 2560x1400, could you  be able to use it at 120hz or 144hz?

No, it's 60hz and that's it. It has G-sync though. 
If you are a Nvidia user and have a card that supports G-sync then I highly recommend it. 60hz is very fluid with this tech. I moved to this from 120hz monitors and I was a bit worried but wanted to check out 4k. After seeing the new tech in action here I'm sold on it. Highly recommend this or another G-sync monitor even if you aren't getting the higher refresh rates you are used to.

why is this labeled as 4k when it is not a true 4k?

For those who don't know the background, 4K is defined as 4000 horizontal pixels, whereas this monitor has 3840. However, 4096x2160 is accepted standard for digital cinema (256:135 aspect ratio), 3840x2160 is the defacto "almost 4K" standard for consumer electronics in order to retain a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Does this monitor have speakers?

Accepted Answer

No, it has a thin profile and there wouldn't be much of a place to put speakers. Acer is looking to reduce manufacturing costs on these early 4k models and cut any non-essential expenses.

is the refresh rate any higher at 1440p?

don't really care about 4k and was hoping I could get 3 of these and have nv surround and 3d vision.

The overview advertises 3dvision but I was hoping for at least 120hz at 1440p or is the max 60hz fer all resolutions? :(

The refresh rate is 60hz. I am not aware of this monitor having any 3d capabilities. Gaming on it with g-sync is marvelous though. Absolutely no screen tearing. At this point in time, 4k is a little overrated. Graphics cards aren't quite there yet for an optimal 4k experience. There are a few games that get an acceptable frame rate at 4k, but most of them I have to run at 1440p.

Is this monitor 3d vision ready?

Sorry, it is not 3d capable. This monitor has a 60hz max refresh, need at least 120hz for 3d. I use two 970gtx to run it with no problem. If here was a 3d option you would need to add two more cards, twice the pixels for 3d.  That would be one expensive machine. Wait for Steam VR.

Question 8

If I downscale this monitor to run in 1920x1080, will the G-sync module still function?
Or must I run the monitor in 4K to use G-sync.

The gsync will function at any resolution and as of the most recent hotfixed nvidia drivers, should also function in windowed mode. Be aware however that if you're going to be running this monitor at 1920x1080 you're probably gonna have to increase the sharpness for it to look decent.

My ps4 doesn't work on this monitor?

No. PS4 only supports HDMI output. This monitor only accepts Displayport input. Even if you bought a HDMI to Displayport adapter your games would look like garbage on this monitor since PS4 is barely capable of rendering 1080P.  Also, G-Sync, which adds about $200 to the cost of this monitor is not compatible with the AMD APU inside the PS4.

Hi all- is this 4k monitor truly capable of Nvidia 3d Vison version 2 as no other website (including Acer's own site) list that as part of the features or is Nvidia 3d vision not capable with a 4K monitor? Thank you for your rpelies in advance!

No. This monitor has a 60Hz refresh rate which is not high enough for a quality 3D experience. That said it still a great monitor. Nvidia has a search feature built into their website that you can use to find hardware that supports 3D vision. Go to their site, click products > 3D Vision. On the next page you can click on "3D glasses and displays" That should help you find hardware to meet your needs.
