Does this TV support HDR?

This is not a TV. It is a computer monitor (no tuner). It supports what is known as Deep Color. That is 10 bits per RGB channel. This is not a broadcast standard but is provided by a graphics card. HDR is a way of specifying a wider range of colors and luminance levels than is provided by standard broadcast signals. This monitor does not support any of the various HDR encoding standards. You can buy a TV with HDR for less than this monitor costs, but you can't buy a TV with HDR and DisplayPort for anything near the cost of this monitor.

As for using this as a daily monitor, can you see the pixels when sitting in front of it, Roughly like at arm's length?

The pixels are going to be the same as any 4K 50in TV. If you are not sure if you can see the pixels, stand in front of a 50in TV at arm's length and look at the picture. Make sure the TV is displaying 4K content at the time. If not 4K, realize that what would appear to be a single pixel is actually 4 pixels. The TV has to be 50in class (48in-51in actual) for this to be accurate. When different size displays have the same number of pixels, the pixels per inch obviously changes.

Can this monitor be wall mounted?  What distance is ideal for viewing?

The monitor has industry standard VESA mounts (200mm x 400mm), so it can be wall mounted or cart mounted.  No recommendations for ideal viewing distance are provided in the manuals, but most of the websites out there that deal with the topic seem to say between 5' - 7' is a good viewing distance for 50" monitors (for this monitor, the actual viewable image is 48.5" diagonal).

Which type of cable is the Display Port that comes in the packaging, 1.1 or 1.2?

I am using the cable that came in the packaging with it set to 1.2. I get 4K resolution at 60 Hz and it looks great! My video card is a GeForce 1080 and I’m very pleased with this monitor. Despite what you may read, there is no such thing as a DisplayPort 1.1 cable and DisplayPort 1.2 cable. ... All standard DisplayPort cables support RBR, HBR (High Bit Rate), and HBR2 (High Bit Rate 2), which can support 4K at 60Hz, or up to four 1080p displays using multi-stream.

Dang I've got a green stripe right across the top?

Perfectly normal. Acer StripeSight® is designed to calibrate your directional focus. 
If you see the stripe, you're looking at the wrong spot. 
Acer StripeSight® is NOT designed to work with any 3D or VR applications, and may also need disengaged during times of excessive alcohol consumption, or if any viewer has a history of epileptic seizures.

Question 7

Is anyone else seeing vertical lines from time to time? Specially when the screen is off for some time and then turned on? Tried on MAC, Windows (GTX 1080) and seeing it. Different cables were used (compatible ones) and using DP 1.2.

I have had mine for about a month now and have not seen anything like you describe.  I use a Macbook Pro (w/BootCamp) using Windows 10 mostly.  I am connected via Display Port through a Lenovo (ThinkPad) USB-C Dock.

Is it possible  to enable HDR with this monitor running Windows 10 (i.e., HD Color Settings)? If so, How?

My OMEN '15 laptop, GTX-1060 and cables should be able to run HDR in Windows 10, but I can't seem to get it enabled.

Currently I'm using DisplayPort for the 10-bit colors (w/ DP 1.2 enabled on monitor), but curious if I should be using the HDMI 2.0 instead (8-bit), but not sure what's the difference is what's optimal...

Also, when I first connected the monitor to my laptop, it installed the generic monitor driver, so I went to the official Acer site and downloaded the EB490QK driver, however, when I go into 'Advanced Display Settings' and look at Driver Details it shows BOTH drivers (generic and EB490QK). Not sure if this has anything to do with it...

Lastly, I saw one poster say there's a monitor setting to enable HDR2, but I haven't found that setting anywhere...

This monitor doesn't have HDR, so no. You can't enable on Windows 10.

Can this monitor be used as a TV?

Absolutely.  The display does not have a built-in TV tuner or a coax connection for the cable, so you would need a "box" - it can be a digital set top box (STB) from your TV/Internet provider or a content streaming device like an AppleTV or Roku - anything that can output to HDMI.  The display has 2x HDMI 1.4 connectors and 1x HDMI 2.0 connector.  If you're doing 4K (i.e., 2160p, 3840x2160), make sure your HDMI cable is 4K certified.

Does this TV support 4k and 60Hz at the same time over DisplayPort?

Yes, but when you it arrives the DP format is set to 1.1 and it only does 30Hz with that setting.  You go into menu settings and change the DP format to 1.2 and then it is 4K at 60Hz.  I am currently using it at 4K and 60Hz DP 1.2
