I get no sound and the cable is connected?

The Acer Nitro 34" Monitor has built-in speakers, which are 2 speakers with 3 watts per speaker. If you're experiencing no sound, ensure that the audio output is set correctly and that the volume is not muted either on the monitor or the connected device.

is the height of this monitor adjustable and is it tiltable?

The stand is fixed height, and allows the monitor to tilt the face up and down.

How's the text quality? Do you notice any issues with browsing or office apps? I'll be working with these, so it's mostly email, terminals, VSC and such.

When I had HDR enabled I found that it was rather irritating. Turning that off I find that it works just fine for office.

Are you limited to the stand this monitor comes with or are there mount screw holes present that would allow you to interchange it with other monitor stands?

The monitor is VESA Compatibility - Mountable with a 100 x 100mm standard, which means it has mount screw holes allowing you to use other monitor stands.
