Is this a Windows only tablet or can I run Linux/rasbperry pi on it?

Accepted Answer

This is a multi-interface touch screen monitor rather than a tablet.  It has Display Port, HDMI, and VGA interfaces.  So, as long as the device your connecting has the necessary drivers for multi-touch features, you can connect any device using one of those types of input.

Question 2

How "flat" does the builtin stand allow you to position the monitor?  For a lot of touch work, I need it almost horizontal.

It does not lay very "horizontal". The stand is maxed out at 20* deg attached from the middle of the back. It's stands almost vertical. It does have considerably sticky rubber "feet".  I'm using it mounted for a machine.

If you must use this monitor laying down, maybe a laptop stand would work?

I'm wanting to use this in a scenario where it will be left alone for hours at a time, and then will need to be touch responsive at a moments notice.  Assuming my normal computer sleep modes are set correctly, will this monitor react like I want?  Or does it disconnect the touch feature after a certain period of time?

Hmmm.... We have not experienced that. We use ours as a replacement for sound board  sliders for live music. In taht instance, the touch screen function often willnot get toughed for a few hours (we use a remote system most of the time) byut every time we go back it instantly responds to the touch input. Which make sense if you think about it, since the touch screen function is essentially the same as a mouse (The touch screen function is via a USB connection, just like a mouse) which always has high priority interrupts. So, like you indicated, if you set you mouse/ touch screen to never go to sleep, I think you will likely be OK.

I would like to use this in a recording booth. Is there a fan and does the monitor make ANY noise?

It’s silent, but I haven’t seen a monitor that makes noise since the days of CRT’s, and that was a 20KHhz or so squeal.

Does the HDMI input feed output to speakers? Or is the audio jack the only way?

Yes, the HDMI input can feed audio to the speakers. You can switch this at any time from within the monitors menu. (Audio via HDMI/DP or though the included stereo input)

can a stylus be used with this?

It's really just a touch screen.  A basic pointer type stylus would probably work but the screen will not recognize anything powered or intelligent.   I have used powered stylus (styluses, styli) in the past for both mouse functions and for handwriting recognition but this does not appear to have the functionality.

The monitor is in a daily use, kitchen computer and has no keyboard.  Windows10 touch keyboard and mouse functions all work great.

Can it stand portrait?

Probably could put it on a swing-arm or other VESA mount and use Windows to rotate the orientation to portrait mode using "Display Settings."  The stand folds flat so it would not be in the way if handled that way.  Have not tried it though so not sure if the touch-screen settings would map properly.

What wall mount would you recommend for this?

It’s VESA 100mm compatible so any mount will work. It’s also a very light monitor so I’d recommend getting the cheapest one you can find with your desired movement requirements.
