Is the D-sub a VGA connector? I need HDMI and VGA connections for home and work computers.

Yes, I have this Monitor, the Monitor is perfect for me. I am not a gamer, I use the monitor for my Desk top computer and I love it.. I am hooked up VGA.. the simple VGA cable supplied with the monitor works perfect. I do not have an HDMI GRAPHIC card in my computer yet. But I am going to get one, if you need HD MI then you will also need to purchase the HD MI Cable.

No, it's a computer monitor not a TV.

Did anyone else have problems with the speakers? I can get them to work.

This monitor does not have speakers. If you use an HDMI connection you can use the audio output device port on the back of the monitor to get sound (see page 27 of manual).
