Question 1

Does the Samsung 27" UHD 4K 240Hz OLED LS27FG810SNXZA monitor require a firmware update before initial use to enable 240Hz refresh rate support?

Accepted Answer

The Samsung 27" Odyssey G8 UHD 4K 240Hz OLED monitor does not require a firmware update to enable the 240Hz refresh rate out of the box. It’s designed to support 240Hz natively, so once properly connected via DisplayPort and configured in your graphics settings, you’ll be able to access the high refresh rate without extra steps.

Keep in mind that to fully utilize 240Hz at 4K, your GPU needs to support DisplayPort 1.4 or higher and have enough power to handle that output. If you experience any issues, checking for driver updates on your GPU side or adjusting resolution and refresh rate settings could help ensure smooth performance.

Question 2

Is upgrading from a 27" 144Hz QHD LCD monitor to the Samsung 27" UHD 4K 240Hz OLED LS27FG810SNXZA worth it for both gaming performance and visual quality?

Accepted Answer

If you’re coming from a 27" 144Hz QHD LCD, switching to the Samsung 27" UHD 4K OLED with 240Hz will noticeably improve both image sharpness and smoothness, especially in fast-paced games. The OLED’s 0.03ms response time and HDR400 with true black contrast offer much better visual fidelity and reduced motion blur.

Keep in mind, driving 4K at 240Hz requires a powerful GPU to fully benefit from the higher refresh rate, so your gaming performance gain depends on your PC build. Also, OLEDs are less prone to glare, but if your gaming setup is very bright, you might still see some reflections despite the glare-free tech.

Question 3

What accessories and cables are included in the box with the MNTR SAMS 27" UHD 4K 240Hz OLED LS27FG810SNXZA monitor for a complete out-of-box setup?

Accepted Answer

The box includes the Samsung Odyssey G8 monitor along with a DisplayPort cable, a USB cable for the hub, and the power adapter. These are essential for getting the monitor up and running at its full 4K 240Hz capability right out of the box.

While HDMI cables aren’t always included, using the DisplayPort connection is recommended for reaching the full refresh rate and resolution. If you plan to connect consoles or other devices, you might need to supply your own HDMI cable separately.

Question 4

Are there any known compatibility issues between the Samsung 27" UHD 4K 240Hz OLED LS27FG810SNXZA monitor and popular AMD or Intel motherboards with integrated graphics?

Accepted Answer

Most AMD and Intel motherboards with integrated graphics will work fine with the Samsung 27" OLED Odyssey G8 monitor, as it supports standard DisplayPort and HDMI inputs at UHD 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh rates. However, to get the full 240Hz experience at 4K, you'll need a compatible GPU or integrated graphics that can output at that high refresh rate, which many integrated solutions might not support completely.

If you're primarily using the monitor with integrated graphics, you might find that performance or refresh rate caps are limited compared to using a discrete GPU. For gaming or fast motion content at 240Hz, pairing this monitor with a mid- to high-end discrete GPU is recommended, since integrated graphics often can't fully utilize the panel’s top specs or FreeSync Premium Pro features.

Question 5

Is the screen glossy or matte?

Accepted Answer

The screen is non-glare.

Question 6

How good is the contrast and color on this monitor?

Accepted Answer

The monitor features a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and utilizes VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 to enhance contrast and color with deep blacks, which helps display true, rich blacks without light bleed, enhancing contrast and color depth.

Question 7

What measures does this monitor take to prevent overheating?

Accepted Answer

The monitor features a Dynamic Cooling System that reduces heat five times faster than graphite, preventing burn-ins. Additionally, it includes a Thermal Modulation System that automatically controls brightness to prevent overheating, and Logo & Taskbar Detection which dims static images to avoid burn-ins.

Question 8

What kind of ports does this monitor have for connectivity?

Accepted Answer

The monitor has 1 x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2 x HDMI 2.1 for video ports, along with 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 and 1 x USB Type B Upstream for USB ports.

Question 9

What is the refresh rate of this gaming monitor?

Accepted Answer

The refresh rate of the gaming monitor is 240Hz.

Question 10

What technology does this monitor use to reduce screen lag and tearing?

Accepted Answer

The monitor uses AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technology to reduce screen lag and tearing.
