Can I adjust the height on this monitor?

The heavy duty stand is very versatile.  Measuring from the bottom edge of the frame,  the monitor can be raised from 3" to almost 7".   It locks into place at its lowest position, but pushing a button on the back of the stand allows it to be raised.  The screen also pivots forward and back.

Additionally, the entire screen can be easily rotated 90 degrees into a vertical or "portrait" position.

Question 2

Most devices these days tend to auto-search for an active signal from all available inputs if multiple devices are plugged in, and I have no reason to believe this monitor is any different.  Is there any way to disable this "auto-search" feature on this monitor?  In my scenario this is a highly undesirable feature and my purchasing decision is strongly influenced by this.

I have owned a HP LP2475w, which I still use, and it is undesirable that the monitor starts by cycleing through the available devices which takes about 15 seconds.

I also now have for the past 6 months the HP ZR2440w which by default does not do this.  From an off position, pressing the power button takes about 1 second to power the monitor at which point it is showing your last choosen connection.  I also like the stand better and the color and clarity are a bit better also.

can someone tell me the width of the bezel ?

bezel is about 3/4 inch on all sides.  Great monitor.  Only thing that bothers me is the cable connections are on the bottom  of the monitor rather than to go thru the back of the monitor.  When you swivel the monitor for portrait view the video and power cables are hanging from the side.

What makes this product worth the $300-$400 when there are monitors with pretty much the same specs for $100-$200?

Primary difference is that this is a IPS panel rather than the more often seen and much cheaper TN panel that are used in most LCD monitors.  IPS monitors are capable of displaying a true 16.7 million colors whereas TN monitors have to use dithering to mimic the 16.7 million colors.  Additionally IPS panels have a vastly superior viewing angle.  Basically IPS panels have superior color, viewing angle, and image quality when compared to TN panels and are therefore more expensive.  This one is actually on the cheap side for a IPS monitor

Question 5

Let me preface by saying I have an older HP 24" monitor and am looking for a similar one.

What kind of input switch latency is there?  
Is it easy to switch inputs?  
Does the monitor automatically detect "new" (video signal) inputs?  
From sleep (minimal monitor power state), how long does it take for the monitor to turn on once a signal is sent to it (PC power on/wake)?  
Are there any indicator LED's on the front bezel? if so, can they be disabled?  
Does the panel get hot to the touch after (4+ hours) extended use, or just warm?

One more thing. When the monitor is off, all I see is a small white dot. When I rub my finger across it, I can't feel it.

How does this monitor compare w/the HP Compaq LA2405x 24"?

Hello Ann,  actually I own both of the monitors.  I have 2 of the ZR2440w at home with a ZR2740w in the middle.  At work I use the LA2405 which I like a lot (bought one for the boss too).  Picture-wise I would say they are identical.  I like the appearance of the LA better and it has a very handy carrying handle built into the mount if that is important to you.  The ZR series has no other adjustments other than brightness.  The LA has extensive menu options.  Both adjust vertically and tilt 90-degrees.  The ZR series base has an open slot handy for pens or other similar office minutia.  Pricewise I am not sure, I bought both on sale.  If the prices were equal and I did not already have a similar model I would buy the LA over the ZR (looks and better menu).  I am an engineer and use them for circuit layouts, general drafting, and occasional HD video editing.

Is this monitor compatible with HP Pavilion dv6 laptop?

Hi Christina,

I don't have a specific knowledge of the laptop you mention. That shouldn't matter in that the interface to the monitor will be through a DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI cable. So, if your laptop offers a DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI connector (usually in the back or sometimes along one of the sides of the computer) then you will be able to use the ZR2440w. As to the resolution or other capabilities (such as number of displayable colors) of the monitor that can be used, that is determined by the software driver and graphics hardware on your machine. The specifications for the laptop should provide this information as well as the external graphics connector types it supports.

I just checked the dv6 specs on NewEgg. It supports VGA and HDMI ports. The ZR2440w does not have a VGA port, but does have the HDMI port. So, on this basis, it looks like a go. Also, as there are several dv6 models out there, be sure the check the specs for the model you have or are getting. Finally, if you're still uncertain, try emailing HP customer support your question.
