Is the screen on this monitor matte or glossy?

Michelle, it's a matte finish on the screen. I have 2 of them side by side and I sit next to some big windows and they stay crystal clear. No glare from the windows or the overhead lights. I've been very impressed with them. Thanks, John

Trying to make a decision - is the upright part of the stand chrome or black - it appears chrome in some photos.
Is the stand glossy or matte finish?

The upright portion is black with a glossy finish. The gloss is not super-reflective. It is not distracting at all, and I find it reasonably subtle.

I have the monitors low enough that I barely see the upright support.

Hi, I was just wondering can you use a back mount to this monitor? I think i see where they would go but im not entirely sure. Thanks.

This monitor has a standard VESA compatible 100 X 100 mm mount holes. I use two of these monitors, each mounted on 3M Easy-Adjust Monitor Stand (MS110MB). But any VESA compatible mount should work.

Can I orient this monitor vertically without mounting it to a wall?

It doesn't come with an appropriate stand to do so. You'll need a third party stand; some are made that can attach to a desk instead of the wall.

Which port is better to use for gaming (PC)? HDMI or DVI.

Accepted Answer

You will not be able to tell a visual difference with this monitor. Both are digital inputs that support 60hz refresh rate at 1080p. Dual Link DVI is needed for higher resolutions in 4K range. HDMI supports audio obviously, but other than that, at 1080p and below they are indistinguishable. Pros always recommend DVI because of its stability and higher-res support over HDMI, but my understanding is that HDMI has improved much recently.

Does this unit have a glossy screen surface or a matt screen surface?  How can you tell if one or the other has that feature or not?

This unit has a matte screen surface. With glossy surfaces you can clearly see your face in the screen when the monitor is turned off. The screen surface on this monitor does reflect some light but it is defuse.

Can the base be removed and a mounting system be used on this monitor like a VESA mount?

Yes, I use these monitors in dual set-ups with articulated Cotytech wall mounts with my customers running quickbooks and other complex applications.  They work great and are a real price-performer.  The base detaches easily and they are standard VESA mountable.

Would this monitor be compatable with the Nvidia GTX 980 graphics card?

This monitor has VGA, DVI and HDMI connectors on the back. I use two of these monitors with a ASUS GTX660 and they work fine. It should be compatible with the Nvidia GTX 980 graphics card

A lot of reviews say this wobbles

I play games on my spare time, so obviously I move the mouse around sporadically. Will this cause the screen to wobble or is that only when it's bumped? Is there a way I can prevent the wobbling?

If that's the case, I'm going to have to look for a different monitor

I've had this monitor for just about a year now and I play many games on my PC that involve significant mouse movement and have not noticed any screen wobble that would be considered annoying.  This is mostly because the desk I have my monitor sitting on is pretty solid.  If you use this monitor/stand setup on a desk that moves with your mouse movement, then I can see the wobbling becoming a problem to note.  However, if you have a solid desk like me, then you're good to go.  Hope this helped.
