How thick is the side bezel on this monitor in inches or centimeters?

I'm looking at it from the perspective of using it for a three monitor setup, and want minimal screen gap caused by bezel between the three panels.

It's roughly 7/8 of an in. I personally think this bezel wouldn't work for multi monitor, but I hate bezels.

What is the height of this monitor when it lowered completely?

With the monitor tilted back, it is 17 1/2" from the top to the bottom of the base. If you swivel the monitor straight up and down, it is 17" from the top to the bottom of the base.  If you raise the monitor on its base to it's highest position, it can be raised so that it is 22" from the top to the bottom of the base.  If you rotate the screen 90 degrees (portrait style-up and down) it is is 27 1/4" from the top to the bottom of the base.

What color is the power indicator light?

It's blue when it's on, and located at the bottom of the right side of the monitor.  Hardly noticeable at all.

No light when it's off.

What does this little plastic bar that locks into the back of the monitor stand do?

does it have a built in speakers?

Yes, it has speakers. The manufacturer product page says:

"... HDMI, DisplayPort, and dual-link DVI support WQHD natively, accentuated by room-dominating audio via twin 3W speakers."

I would not call them room-dominating, especially at 3W.

ok so i know this monitor is 2560x1440 and that it has a 5ms GTG.
the one thing i would like to know is what is the refresh rate of this thing?

Refresh rate is 60Hz.
If your looking for a 1440p resolution with 120Hz
the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q will have those features with a 1ms response time.

is it a matte or glossy screen? can 1440p be achieved using displayport or is it hdmi only?

This display has a Matte finish, however in my opinion the colors are not that washed out as the display itself has a fantastic color range.

1440p on this display can be achieved via DisplayPortor Dual-Link DVI on a graphics card.

How tall is the monitor, with the stand on, and at the lowest height?

It's super low for the size: total height on lowest position is 17 inches. The stand only adds less than 2 inches at the lowest position.

Total height in highest position with screen in horizontal view is just over 21.5 inches.

These monitors seem to require DVI-D or Display Port. All the video cards I find have "1" DVI-D and "1" Display Port, can I run two of these monitors off a GTX 780 Ti by plugging one in to run DVI-D and the other via Display Port?

that would work. IF the card in question supports dual monitors; check the specs with nvidia (I use quadro cards so can't help you there). you need to make sure to use a dvi-d cable or "dual link dvi" cable; the monitor ships with one, as well as a displayport cable, which makes this easy. very happy with it so far.
