The screen is Matte. Its the best monitor ive ever bought. Had it for about a year now and its been great.

In the specifications for the ASUS VS278Q-P monitor it shows that it has a DisplayPort port input. My video card has a DisplayPort output. But in the picture on the web page that shows the cables it does not show a cable for the DisplayPort port on the monitor. So - you can probably guess my question - does a DisplayPort cable come with this monitor, or not?

The monitor came with two cables: a D-Sub (VGI) cable, and an HDMI to DVI port cable. Though it does have a DisplayPort port on the back, it did not come with a cable for it.

Are there any threaded holes on the back of the monitor for mounting?  They would likely be located in the center of the back side (I really wish Newegg would start posting photos of the back sides of their products...)

Yes - it has VESA compatible mounting holes.  You could mount on a wall, or desk with the appropriate mounting hardware.
I have mine on a Rosewill RHMS-13003 Diamond, 2 Joint Spring Arm.

if using a HDMI cord can the audio be picked up through the audio jack on the monitor if i plug in my head phones?

i plan on using this with my xbox 360 for lan parties so i would have only the hdmi cord, head phones and power cord.

I bought this computer with intensions of using it for gaming. Am i gonna regret this decision or am i gonna be highly satisfied?

Your question sounds more like boasting rather than being an actual question. If you bought this before posing your question, why ask? Also, this is actually a monitor... Not a computer... So if you're looking to game, you'll have to purchase a computer also. Try desktops or gaming desktops..

Does the stand allow you to move the screen to an upright position instead of tilted back all the time?

Yes! It can be set straight on up and down!
 This is how I keep it myself!
Very happy with this Monitor for gaming due to the fast 1ms response time!

Matte. BUt its a really good matted Screen almost Clear.

this will be for my son for christmas gift but i need 2 know if he can hook his turtle beach headset up 2 it n if so how is that done ... right now he has the headset hooked up 2 the ps3 and in the tv he has now .....    is it possible 2 just hook up turtle beaches 2 the monitor????  thank u
