Does it come with an HDMI cable in the box?

There is a HDMI-DVI cable included. So if your computer has a DVI output you could use it to connect to the monitor via HDMI input. My computer is older and only has VGA outputs (VGA cord also included) so I connected that way. Hope that helps!

Are the monitor base and edges silver or black?

Bases are silver (matte on the outer circle, shiny on the inner circle). The edges are black as seen in the picture, other than the lower bar with touch-buttons that is silver.

Is the screen glossy or matte?

The screen has a matte finish. The light reflection in a sunny room is virtually non existent. There is also virtually no light bleed. Overall I have loved this monitor so far other than the sensitivity of the menu buttons. Hope this helps.

Can this monitor be wall mounted with a universal mount?

No you have to buy this mount VESA Mount Adapter for Asus Monitors MX239H costs around 30 bucks

Is this monitor vesa mount compatible?

No it is not. I just got two and the back is a plain black glossy plastic with nothing other than the mount for the stand that comes with it.

Can this be mounted [on anything]? I am trying to use it on a (S2S) sit-stand workstation

It can't be mounted unless you buy a custom mount that attaches where the stand arm does. There are no mounting holes on the back.
