What is the distance from the bottom edge of the monitor to the desk?
Also can the height be adjusted?

The distance from bottom edge to the desk is 3 5/16 inches when monitor is not tilted.

There is no height adjustment possible; only tilting of the monitor can be done to adjust screen angle.

Is compatible with MAC Book Pro?

Yes, that's how I am using it. You do have to buy an adapter to go from mini display port (on the MBP) to VGA or DVI (the ports available on the screen). I bought the adapter for DVI as that should in theory produce a higher quality picture but I'm not sure it makes much difference. This issue is not specific to this monitor - any external monitor will require an adapter, since the MBP only has the mini display port.

If by adjustable you mean, can you turn it sideways and up and down, then the answer is yes.  The color and brightness on this screen seems fine to me.  I am enjoying the wider screen.  It is working great for me.

I bought this monitor and using with windows 7 professional 32 bit. this monitor's high resolution is 1600*900 but it showing only 1280*1024. Why it is showing like this? How can i update the drivers? please answer me?

change your screen resolution

Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.

Click the drop-down list next to Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.

Click Keep to use the new resolution, or click Revert to go back to the previous resolution.

Native resolution

LCD monitors, including laptop screens, typically run best at their native resolution. You don't have to set your monitor to run at this resolution, but it's usually recommended in order to ensure you see the sharpest text and images possible. LCD monitors generally come in two shapes: a standard proportion of width to height of 4:3, or a widescreen ratio of 16:9 or 16:10. A widescreen monitor has both a wider shape and resolution than a standard ratio monitor.

If you're unsure of your monitor's native resolution, check the product manual or go to the manufacturer's website. Here are typical resolutions for some popular screen sizes:

19-inch screen (standard ratio): 1280 x 1024 pixels

20-inch screen (standard ratio): 1600 x 1200 pixels

22-inch screen (widescreen): 1680 x 1050 pixels

Notes

When you change the screen resolution, it affects all users who log on to the computer.

When you set your monitor to a screen resolution that it won't support, the screen will go black for a few seconds while the monitor reverts back to the original resolution.

How do I decide whether a monitor is 720p or 1080p, specifically, whether it is progressive scan ?

This monitor's native resolution is 1600x900.  720p is 1280x720 and 1080i (or) 1080p is 1920x1080.  So it's max resolution is in between. If you're comparing this to TV's, that's not really an accurate comparison.  TV's are typically much larger than 20" and as such would have less pixel density.  This pixel density is typically measures as pixels per inch (PPI).  If you want to get crazy you can do the math to compare but really 1600x900 at 20" is just fine for 99% out there.  The rest are doing high end stuff and can justify paying 600%+ more.

Technically flat panels are neither progressive or interlaced when using HDMI, DVI-D or Display Port connection. The pixels change individually as the graphics card requests it.  I assume your asking about what video formats will play on it.  Encoding wise you could play 720p, 1080i, or 1080p.  The 720p stream would need to be scaled up to go full screen and the 1080 would need to be scaled down to go full screen.  Your movie application and graphics card will handle this automatically and it shouldn't be a problem either way.  If you do plan to on only watching movies and are worried about poor scaling find a monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080 might be the way you want to go but most people wouldn't notice the difference.
