The ASUS VY249HGR is a 23.8-inch Full HD IPS monitor with a 120Hz (OC) refresh rate, Adaptive Sync, and 1ms MPRT response time, making it suitable for casual gaming, smooth video playback, and everyday desktop use.
Recommended For
- Budget-conscious casual gamers playing on a PC that can use the monitor’s 120Hz refresh rate; Adaptive-Sync is also available to help reduce tearing.
- Students and home-office users who mainly work with documents, browsing, and video on a compact 23.8-inch Full HD screen, and may value its eye-care settings.
- People adding an affordable side monitor for chat, browsing, or video alongside a higher-resolution main display; PC Gamer describes the VY249HGR as a budget option with similar entry-level specs.
- Users who want built-in accessibility and comfort options such as Color Augmentation, low-blue-light settings, and flicker-free viewing.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- For casual PC gaming, such as playing fast-paced shooters or sports games after work, the screen’s higher refresh rate and Adaptive Sync can make motion look smoother than on a basic 60Hz display when the PC supports the setting and frame rate.
- For schoolwork or everyday office tasks—browsing, reading, and editing documents—it provides a straightforward Full HD workspace, with ASUS positioning it for learning and work as well as entertainment.
- For a budget desktop setup, it can serve as a primary screen for everyday use and casual gaming; it is better suited to that role than to competitive gaming where users want higher-end performance or more extensive connectivity.
- For a home desk used for both work and entertainment, it can handle web browsing, document editing, and watching videos on one screen; the IPS panel supports viewing from different positions around the desk.
- For long study or work sessions, users can adjust the blue-light filter and use the flicker-free feature for a more comfortable viewing setup; these features do not guarantee that eye strain will be prevented.
- For users with color-vision deficiencies, Color Augmentation mode is intended to make some colors easier to distinguish during everyday screen use.
