Question 1

I have a Netgear AC1750 Model: R6400 Router and need a modem to connect to. I have gamers in the house and I am looking at the Netgear CM500 to hook up to. Is this good our is there something better?

There is better but, really it depends on your provider and how you set things up.  It really doesn't matter the if the specs are amazing, your provider will govern how fast you go, also consider the area's usage at the tumes ypu are wanting to game.  Currently the best option that I have is 105 Mbps though I have yet to achieve over 40 Mbps due to the old setup in the neighborhood.  My average is around 25 Mbps, before this modem using a rental I averaged 6.7 Mbps.  Hopefully this helps some.

Hello,
Can someone tell me if this device is Voice compatible? I currently use Comcast Voice/Internet/Cable bundle. This is listed as one of the devices compatible with their service, however, I can't tell if I can hook up phone lines to it.

No, this modem is data only and you can't hook phone lines to it. I think you will need to see what Comcast advises to use their phone service when you get your own modem.

I understand that this is a cable modem only, currently I am using a Belkin wireless router and a range extender, I would have to assume that these will be compatible with this modem?

Any cable modem connects to the WAN port of you network; connecting the modem to the router should not be a problem. Rebooting the router and modem may be (re)acquire any DHCP leases with the change. Contacting an ISP to update mac addressing of the new modem is also recommended.

I have this product. but my question is that I need it to be able to connect to the phone line as I have Vontage. will this do it?

No. This is a modem only and you can not connect a phone to it directly. You will need a router and a gateway from Vonage or any other telephone service provider.

Other than cost, how does this compare to Motorola SB6183?

I had a short experience with the SB6183 and then returned it because I was not happy with it.  The reason why I returned it is because I was having intermittent connection issues that I didn't have before and the modem itself ran warmer than I was comfortable with.  Also, I didn't care for the color being white and the indicator lights on the front being as bright as they were.  In fact... said indicator lights were ridiculously bright and extremely annoying.  I might have just got a bumm SB6183 so if you are ok with a white color and bright lights it might not be a bad buy.  Hope that helps.

This is only modem; no problems to report so far. By personal prefernce it was better to get a router separately.

Why is it labeled CM500-100NAS? Is this related to a Network Attached Storage (NAS)?

It's strictly a cable modem, the NAS is just the random model numbering. It is quite good though, I've had it for about a year and it handles my TWC 300/20 internet connection splendidly.

Is this modem capable of supporting Comcast phone service?

We returned this modem because it did NOT support Comcast Infinity cable service.  I don't think it supports their pone service either.

Will this work with suddenlink?

Ok, I went ahead and asked them. You can use this on Suddenlink according to their customer service. I will update next week if the technician tells me otherwise.

What does it do? Why aren’t there Ethernet ports on the back? I obviously just don’t understand how it works

I think the easiest why I can explain it is this. What you’re thinking about is a router. A router functions by sending out WiFi across a certain area. Some routers have a built in modem. But that functionality sometimes takes away from its quality. A modem is what actually creates the internet connection. Usually you plug your cable internet into it and connect it to your router which would have the Ethernet ports and ect.  Does that help? Hopefully I explained it correctly and in a way that you understand.
