Have the issues with the PUMA 6 chip set been resolved for this device?

Quick google search says - No.

I've been happy with CM600 (24x8). COX in my neighborhood is using only 16x4 channels for 150Gbps service. COX automatically updates the modem firmware (Aug 2017 firmware V1.01.12). Real improvements I've made have all been layer 1 - reduced coax cable length, removed coax couplers, and replacing coax cable (house builder supplied coax was cheap).
