Does this support Logitech Unifying Receiver (sorry not allowed to post links), can I use this one USB plug for multiple Logitech devices?

The one I bought has a blue ring around the usb receiver and lacks the unifying symbol.  This indicates to me, it does not have this capability.  I was disappointed this feature was missing as well, but overall happy with the headset.

Question 2

Is the Bluetooth receiver optional , can this connect to a smart-phone, or a laptop that has Bluetooth without using the receiver?

Absolutely. I use this headset primarily with my desktop to Skype with friends and family. However, when I misplace my primary Bluetooth headset for my smartphone I use my Logitech H800 pair.

what is the wire looking tube at the bottom of the ear piece
Can you use with Play Station 3?

The wire looking tube is microphone. You can hide it if you don't like it on the side.
Headset has USB transmitter that gets detected by computer OS and require driver. (you don't need to worry about it. OS already has the driver)
I never had PS 3 so I cannot answer but as I said above OS should detect headset and install driver. This is probably applicable to PS3 also.

What do you mean when you say "build in filters"?
Headset does not have any sound filters (equalizer). It all managed through your computer sound card (when possible)

Will I be able to see on my PC if microphone is muted or not?

i am wondering if this headset works with xbox 360?

Sorry - don't have an Xbox 360. It is working very well either connected USB (wireless) or Bluetooth. I bought it to use with Rosetta Stone but found it was very good for listening to music. I can make it to the kitchen from the family room (~20 feet) without losing signal.

What type of rechargeable battery does it use?

And is it easy to replace?

The battery is a Logitech OEM battery. It is a square 1 inch by 1 inch. less than a 1/4 thick. Very easy to replace if required to. Just rotate the plastic lid on the left side of the headset, remove the plastic cover, and there it is. No tools required.  I've had mine for a year and have had zero problems.
