Yes it will. It comes with a driver CD but you can find them online too and it will probably work even if you don't use the CD and let Windows find drivers.

Yes, it does. I currently use windows 8.1, but I can say with full surety that Windows 7 is completely compatible. And as for steam, yes. Full compatibility through Steam. However, certain games will not support controller function. Make sure to read any reviews or fine print about games before buying. These cases are rare, however, as most games fully support the controller. I would definitely assure you that it's worth the buy.

Can it be used on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit?

Yes, both Me and my son were able to use it fine in Windows 7; me in 64 bit and him in 32 bit. I currently use it in Arch Linux and works fine in Steam. Works in all emulators i have tried as well (Dolphin, MaMe, ZNes, Mupen64 and PCSX2) some took more programming of buttong functionality than others. Build quality is excellent and works with any thing i throw at it. Microsoft has a long track record of making good hardware. Hard to dispute whether you care for their software or not.

Your PC should automatically recognize the controller, and find the most recent drivers for you. The real question is whether the game you are playing will do the same or not. Most PC game ports will, especially if it is a AAA title, but some smaller companies don't have it in their budget, and you may need 3rd-party software if you are looking to remap the controls. The best thing to do is browse your game library; if you're using Steam, the Store Page for the game will list native controller compatibility as a feature (bottom right). Hope this helps.

Is there any difference between this and the regular Xbox 360 wired controller other than that this one comes with a driver disk. I read that my computer would automatically download the driver for me anyway so should I just buy whichever one is cheaper at the moment, or am I missing something?

is this compatible with windows 10?

NO! This does NOT work in Windows 10 even when using the Microsoft drivers and apps.  Also, almost all current motherboards include only USB3 ports, it won't even be recognized as an Xbox controller. Now, USB 3 is backwards-compatible with USB 2 and 1.1 but don't ever plug this into a USB 3 port as it will error that it ONLY works on USB 2 and below. After plugging it into USB 3 it will no longer be recognized even if plugged into a USB 2 port afterwards.
More: This has been a known problem since Windows 10 came out, but Microsoft hasn't even mentioned it. Based on this and Microsoft's history, expect Windows 10 compatibility to be quietly removed in the next 6 months.
If you are looking to play specific games, please check the games' forums before buying this to see if people report it doesn't work in that game.
