Can these be used with an Android Smartphone?

Yes, they can, although the mic wire will be hanging around with out connecting to anything.

How is the mic quality?

I am a casual gamer using teamspeak as my primary communication. The mic is very responsive.  I have had to move it away from my mouth a few times as it was more sensitive than I had originally thought. It is not oversensitive but convenient to keep on your chin without a problem.

I'm still having trouble using my mic on my headset. The Mic does not work. I have switched the mic switch up and down several times and checked my sound settings (inthe control panel). I even had to make sure that it wasn't a hardware problem with my laptop and plugged in an earphone with built in mic (which worked perfectly). I just don't get why the Mic on the headset doesn't work. Does that mean I have received a defect?

Yes I believe you received a defective headset. Those things happen and aren't terribly uncommon. I've recently purchased this headset and I love it, you should be able to get ahold of Newegg customer service or Kingston and it should be no problem.

is the connection USB or is there any way to get one with USB connection?

The connection that comes with the package is strictly audio mic/headphone chord. No USB. Although I imagine you could probably get a converter chord for the 2 audio chords to merge into a USB outlet... but no USB connection in the package. It was a great buy for me though as I always look for headphones without USB outlets.

Can this mike connect to PC and consoles?

I use the mic for my PC and ham radio. I found the level isn't high from the element so it will need to be amplified in some cases. Most audio cards have a "mic boost".

I'm just a random customer (not an upsell), but I'm about to buy a Art Tube MP mic pre-amp that will probably work better between this and my radio.

Question 6

Do I need to purchase a splitter/adapter for the headset? I recently purchased this headset and am loving the sound quality, but I can't seem to get the Mic working. I've switched the Mic control several times and no success. Could it also be a compatibility issue with my laptop?

No.  I had the same problem.  Your laptop is not recognizing the mic.   Go into the device settings on the laptop and select microphone and select it from there.  Once that is done in the same window adjust your volume.  Mine worked great after that

I have a pretty big head, will these fit an above average head size person?

I also have an above average head and this headset adjusts to mine quite comfortably.   The ear pieces shift to make room for your ears and the top head rest slides for longer or shorter heads.

Other than the color, in what way is this "Kingston" branded headset different from the regular Steelseries Siberia V2 headset?

They are the same with the exception of the Kingston HyperX logos. (Shhhh, I did a clean job painting over them myself). I really like everything else about them, the best for what I do.

I should have been more clear with my previous question, can these be used with an Android Smartphone for phone calls utilizing the boom mic?

No. This headset has two 3.5mm connectors. One for the headphones and one for the mic. If you try to use a splitter, the mic cable will be plugged into the "audio out" plug on the phone, not to the mic or "audio in". You'd be better off with a stereo bluetooth headset for the phone, and there are some decent units available for less than the cost of these.
