My pedals came with two black plastic tab-like pieces. What are their purpose?

You can stick those suckers right in the back of the pedals where they do all that slidin' real nice (look, and thou shalt see a gap) and lock 'em all up good and tight for when you're drivin' that there Euro Truck Simulator.
