How do I open this mouse so I can insert the batteries?

The entire black top comes off by sliding that whole cover toward the back of the mouse.  Push with both thumbs on the cover and it will slide back a bit to allow you to lift it off.  Batteries and nano receiver are under the cover.

A very small bit that plugs into a USB port and allows the wireless mouse to talk to the computer. If you look at the last picture it's labeled "wireless receiver". It's called "nano" because it's very small.

Depends on the operating system. Are we talking about apple or windows. 
xp takes abit to install and restart of pc.
windows 7 installs on the fly but takes a couple of minutes to react.
windows 8-sux just stay away from that monstrosity of OS.

mine came without usb wireless or carrying case. how can I get missing part to be able to use???

I assume that by "usb wireless" you mean the "nano receiver"? Without this piece the mouse is worthless, as it is incapable of communicating with your computer. Contact costumer service and request a replacement for your missing parts (I never used the carrying case and it got lost in the shuffle in my desk. You, however may have different needs). From what I have read about this site, you probably will not have any trouble obtaining a replacement, however I cannot vouch for this as all my orders have been filled without issue.
Your shipment notification email has a customer service email address for concerns such as this and I'm sure it won't be a problem.

how to install get the batteries in?  I see the nano is under the cover from other reviews but not how to open it .  any ideas or I should call the toll #.

no instructions on how to remove and install it.

Hi "g b" -  All you have to do is slightly push down on the top of the mouse (the black part) with a finger or two and pull away from the roller and it should come off. This is where you can store you little usb plug in the middle and to each side of it there is a slot for a battery. Hope this helps!

Is this a full, size, mid size or small mouse?

It's definitely a small, travel size mouse. No doubt that's why it comes with a little drawstring pouch for transporting it around.

Sometimes it can be difficult to remove the cover in order to change the 2 AAA batteries, but other than that it works great in my opinion.

Where can we find an instruction sheet for this model mouse?

Basically, you just need to know how to open the darn thing to change the batteries. The top (the black part) slides back SLIGHTLY and lifts off. Inside, both batteries should point the same direction, not opposite directions. When replacing the black top piece be sure to set the top into the little notches and push it firmly forward into place, otherwise the click action won't feel right. We have two of these Rosewill mice and they have lasted well.

It should work fine with any Windows computer.  Windows aut detects it quickly and mone worked right away with now configuration.

So weird Newegg.  If you live in Illinois, North Carolina, Or New York (city or state) Newegg's cart says this item can not be legally shipped to your state....  BUT if you select to buy it from the "Rosewill Superstore" (part of the "Newegg Marketplace") it ships to these places JUST FINE.  I thought it might be an issue with the batteries, So I found another Rosewill item that included batteries  (in case the foreign made batteries were the issue) and it could be shipped from Newegg to Illinois, etc. just fine!  So weird.....    I also found it impossible to email or to start a chat session without having an open order containing the item....at least that was the case both Sunday & Monday evening....?
