Is the 3.5 TRRS cable removable at the headset so I can plug in my own spring wrapped SUPER CAT PROOF (not a brand or model name, just my enthusiasm) cable into it?

No, you cannot remove the cord from the headset to plug in your own cord since it IS attached.

What would I need the Microsoft Adapter for if I use this on PC?

The Microsoft Adapter would only be needed to use this headset with the Xbox One, since that console does not come with standard analog sound inputs. As long as your computer has either separate 3.5mm speaker and headphone jacks, or a combined 4-pole 3,5mm jack, you can use this headset just as it is.

how long is the cord for the headset?

The cable is 6 feet, and permanently attached to the headset. The microphone, however, is removable which might sound strange but has been extremely handy.

Would it be safe to plug a set of 2.1 computer speakers in to the little USB adapter (DAC?) via 3.5mm TRS?

The headset I got did not have a DAC adapter. It was two 3.5mm analog jacks only.
