Is this printer compatible with windows 7 professional and windows 8?

We installed the printer during an "XP" era, and shortly thereafter migrated to Win8.  The migration of the printer was trouble free.  This is a simple printer to set up and operate

Does this printer have a tractor feed?

Yes it has this.
Tractor feed is the same as Pin Feed. 
Also has friction feed but we have never used this.

i used a USB cable on a PC running windows 7.  The Epson site does not offer a driver for this unit for WIN7 but I was able to get it to work installing the Vista driver (thats the latest available).  I do not believe there is an RJ45 port on this so regular networking as an IP printer probably is a stretch.  However, you may be able to share the printer through the workstation its connected to to accomplish a multi-user printer.  I hope that helps.

Will this printer produce scan-able  UPC codes on gummy labels? If not which Epson Impact will?

Not sure if it can do this but if you find out it can, I will sell you mine very cheap.  I found that I did not need the printer and have never used it.

Does the LQ 590 come with a tractor feed included?

Mine came with both friction and tractor, but there is an optional tractor feed accessory you can purchase, probably to make it fully tractor feed.

I have a LQ 570+ will the 570+ driver work for the LQ-590?

No, it needs the driver for the LQ-590.  I had a the 570+ also and had to use the other driver.

I need a new printer that uses a 25 pin cable.  My instrument's output requires a 25 pin port connection.  Does this printer use a 25 pin port cable?

It has a 36 Centronics female pin connector on the printer itself and normally with parallel port cable ( male centronics 36 to a DB25 Male 25pin ) that goes into the computers female DB25 printer port.

There are also interface option cards for this printer ( card slot above usb and printer port ) but not sure what types are available.

I used this printer as a replacement due to water damage but was lucky that the interface card was still good.

Is anyone using this printer to print IMb (mail codes) on gummy labels?

Don't currently used gummed labels, but I have in previous lives. Try to find them on Tractor feed paper (unlikely these days); if using fan-fold, I only had success coming straight up from the bottom
