Intuit is telling me I MUST update in order to continue being able to use the payroll subscription I am already paying for. Am I correct in assuming that in order to continue doing all the work to do my own payroll for 6 employees, I have to:

1) buy the new 2014 quickbooks
2) buy the new enhanced payroll
3) pay extra monthly for the option of paying more than one employee; and
4) continue paying for the payroll subscription service?

I pretty much hate this company.

I recently bought this same product from Newegg.  QBs told me the same thing . . . now you have to buy a payroll subscription, but I said, nope, it's included in my purchase.  The guy who helped me put me on hold, and when he came back, he agreed that I didn't have to buy the subscription service because it was included.  He was totally amazed at the low price that I got from Newegg which included the subscription.

The bad part of QBs these days is they have to make a continuing $$ even after they've sold the big product.  The subscription includes the monthly $2 charge for one employee.  If you pay more than one employee every month, QBs takes the highest number paid in any one payroll period in the month and then deducts $2 per every employee ('cept the first one) from your credit card.  Note that this is calculated on only the one pay period with the most employees paid.

I've just done the 13th payroll with this product.  Number of employees paid has ranged from 28 - 36.  Average cost of the $2 fee has been $60 per month.

I told QBs pretty much the same thing that you said.  I've been using QBs since it first came out, and it's time for me to start looking for another financial reporting software 'cause QBs is too greedy.
