Get this for the official product, and no other reason3/31/2008 12:52:16 PM
Pros: Comes on a official Microsoft disc, has autoplay, and the setup automatically figures the need of 32bit or 64bit. Free shipping, and the price is "okay."
Cons: Only 3 eggs because you can download SP1 (32bit and 64bit) and you don't need genuine Vista software to download either, so with that being said, it is 100% FREE. Really, if you know the difference between 32bit and 64bit and you know how to burn CDs/DVDs, you can save yourself this purchase by downloading and burning your own copy for free (minus the cost of a blank CD/DVD)
Overall Review: What your buying is the official look of Microsoft on a DVD, already burned with an autoplay, and a guilt-free setup so you don't have to worry if you have 32bit or 64bit. If you're building a computer for a customer, I certainly suggest this buy because it will make you look a lot better than a burned disc of SP1 with sharpie text written on it.
Pros: Service tech, Nice to have on disk but is a free download for HS.
Cons: Would not update computers I tried it on both disk and downloaded version. Error code half way through. Please make sure you are not using some of the products MS has Black listed for Vista (Alarm Zone) for 2 of them.
Overall Review: I tried to live with Vista (Ultimate) for months now and I have gone back to Windows XP. I had to redo my two computers over and over again. SP1 was the last straw after doing so would not let me activate it. Tech support no help and 4 different phone numbers, Thanks MS for Vista and Windows 98!!!!!! Long live XP.
Service Pack 1... We all need this, for a reason or two4/12/2008 6:26:38 AM
Pros: It updates your barebone Vista to having the Service Pack 1!
Cons: it's just that it takes Astronomically Long to Extract and Update, my computer booted like 3 times in the whole process and took around 1-2 hours. Maybe because I only had 1GB of memory that time.
Overall Review: If you don't want to download this from Microsoft, then get this Disk, it's worth the penny or quarters than downloading and waiting hours for. If you work, then 1 hour of working is more than enough to get this Disk. If your effort exceeds that of your work's salary per hour, then you're actually losing money.
Cons: On my computer it errors out when getting to about 65-70% just the same as the Windoze update version -3eggs
Overall Review: Good to have just for safe keepings, will keep trying this to see if I can get it to work, will post back on any updates to where I can add more eggs because I got it to work. I gave it 2eggs for now as it is nice to have it on disk
