Hello,

Does this router work with Charter Communications Cable Modem, the Cisco DPC3008?

I am using a ZOOM modem and Comcast Cable services. This router works perfect with my setup. I am sure it will work fine with a Cisco router; however, I think it would be in your best interest to contact Netgear to get the best answer for the compatibility question you have.

Question 2

When I buy this router, how long do I receive Internet?

I'm not quite sure about your question, but I will try to answer in a whole format. =)
How "Long" will you receive internet?
If you're talking about "long" as in distance, this is one of the best routers that I have ever owned. Alone with out any wireless bridges it can blast out a decent signal over about 2 acres of my 4 acre property. However inside my home, it still gets decent distance, but its 5 Ghz signal is not very far. Then again, that distance is normal for any 5 ghz signal from any router.
I highly recommend this router for any first time user and advanced user due to its stability and reliability.

Now if your talking about "long" as in "How long will I have internet service?" This is a router... and routers do not provide internet. They simply are able to manage internet from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and distribute it to your electronic. If you want internet service, you need to find what is available in your area. (i.e Time Warner, AT&T...e.t.c)

Question 3

Currently have 2 window 8 computers.  Is this router compatable with these devices?

It should work just fine.  Although I am not running Windows 8, I run Windows 7.

The genie software was what I was questioning, but I found a forum that explains that it works with Windows 8. (Just google "netgear genie win 8) If you are running the RT version of Windows 8, then the Genie software may not work but you will still be able to use the router.

Make sure to keep the firmware up to date on the router so there won't be any problems with communicating with Genie. And keep the Genie software on the most current version.

It is compatible with any operating system.
In fact your question is wrong because any router provides braodband, wi-fi, or hard wired signal from your modem to your periferal devices; be it desktop computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. So compatibility with operating system is really irrrelevant question.

my son games, he is always complaining about download speeds.. will this help him out ?

The router performs very well for gaming. It will not on the other hand make a slow internet speed better though. Recommend going to speakeasy . net (new egg doesn't allow web links) and using their speed test to see what kind of performance your internet provider is giving you. 15mb down and 1.8mb up speeds are in my opinion a baseline for gaming. Is this a modem and router? How many users can connect at once?

It is a router. The amount of users connecting to this router depends on your connection speed provided by your Internet Service Provider and your personal usage.
On a normal day in my household there are 3 smart phones connected, 2 tablets, a roku, a Xbox 360, and 2 desktop computers connected at a single time. That is in part due my high speed cable connection and the routers frequency management. High quality video streaming and gaming devices are only connected to the 5ghz frequency, and all tablets and phones are on 2.4 ghz frequency. So this router is more than capable in handling multiple devices. Speed of internet supplied depends on your usage and internet service speed.

Question 7

I am having trouble with hooking up my Bluetooth stereo to the Wi-Fi.  Any thoughts?

Bluetooth and WiFi are different Frequencies. Bluetooth vs. WiFi - .Frequency: Bluetooth works at 2.4GHz frequency while Wi-Fi based networks work at 2.4, 3.6 and 5 GHz This is wireless router not Bluetooth. OK If your stereo receiver has an RJ45 output. You can hard wire the system to the network. I hope this helps!

I have a Netgear WNDR3700 router.  I am thinking to get this one and use it as the main router and then use the WNDR3700 as an access point for my basement.  Can it be hooked up that way?

is the PC setup disk compatible with Windows 10 OS>  Currently have a Motorola Surfboard and the PC setup disk says it does not support my operating system?

I did not use the setup disk. You can configure the router directly using a Web browser and the  router's IP address.
