I have a SMC modem. My cable company is Mediacom ,located here in the midwest. Can I run the cable into the modem, out to the E2500, out the my tower and get wifi?

You should be able to do this. You may have to have the E2500 match the MAC address of your currently connected PC. Some cable modems are tied to specific MAC addresses, but this isn't a big deal.

what bands and upload and down load speeds?

I've been getting between 40 - 60 Mbps up and 50 -70 down on my network. But my net connection only goes up to 17 - 20.
