Does this router lose speed with 8 or more connected devices, or is there another router that would be better for more devices?

Not for sure, I have 5 devices connected at same time sometime buffer on video take 10s to play on 2 iPhones - YouTube . AC speed was not good at expected  240mgb, N speed ok , but  lost connection if I leave the house( 50 ft) away the rounder

Question 2

Is this a simultaneous dual-band router?  Or simply a dual-band router?  Will the 5Ghz radio turn off when a device with only a 2.4Ghz radio wants to connect?

It is simultanious.  It will broadcast both 2.4 and 5Ghz at the same time.  It also gives you the option to have both of those frequencies running the same SSID, or you can choose like I did to have 2 totally separte networks going with different SSID's.  One 2.4Ghz, and one 5Ghz.

Question 3

You are advertising an exclusive on this '2nd generation ac' router but you don't define what that means.  Does this router support multi-user mimo or not?  Because '2nd wave' ac should have multi-user mimo, but I don't see it mentioned.

Accepted Answer

The unit can support mu-mimo, but there is no indication that it is enabled at this time. It does have 3 antennas in each band (a requirement for this feature,) and it does beam steering. My guess is that, since this feature is optional for 802.11ac, it may be implemented, but not up to the full standard.
