How many ports does this routher have -- for ethernet connections?

5 ports total. 4 Fast Ethernet (100Mb) for LAN, 1 Fast Ethernet (100Mb) for WAN.

Is this unit designed to be wall mountable?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  It has slotted holes for screws on the back so you put the screws in at the right distance apart and leave the heads out a little bit.  The router will then fit onto the screws and slide down in the slots so that it locks in place.  There is no template in the box for the screw holes so you have to measure how far apart the holes are on the back of the router and put the screws into the wall at that distance apart.

I used mine with a powerline network adapter that is below the router so I mounted it upside down, with the antenna pointing down, and it works just fine.

Does it support use as an Access Point?

You can disable the DHCP Server on this unit.  Thus you should be able to configure the unit as an access point (AP).

Google "wireless router as access point" for general instructions on how to accomplish this task.

Thus I believe that it should function as an AP.

Question 4

What is the band width?. Like my internet is 30mbp

LAN ports are 100Mbps, Wifi promises N-150, you will see speeds close to 120-135 Mbps when near the unit, getting slower as you increase distance or obstructions between you and the router.

The speeds are more than sufficient for your connection.

Question 5

I have Linksys (Cisco) routers now. Will I run into compatibility issues? I want to extent wireless into another part of my house.

You won't run into any compatibility issues.  Each router you have on the network will need to have a different subnet address.  For example, if your existing router has IP address 192.168.1.1 then you can make your second router IP address 192.168.2.1 etc.  The two routers cannot be on the same subnet.

5 ports on back 1 for WAN and 4 for output. You may need your service providers modem for service. Wireless works with all devices, I have 2 smart t.v.s working wireless with no problems. A great product.

Does this work with AT&T Uverse 2wire?

It can but it is not ideal.

Firstly both the Uverse and Trendnet are routers, which you don't want to have on the same network unless one of their routing capabilities is turned off.  Ideally you would want just a modem from AT&T, not a modem/router combo which is what the 2wire is.  Unfortunately you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get it from AT&T because they like you using their stuff.

On the other hand one of them can become a dummy router/access point and the other becomes the actual router.  You do this on the Uverse by enabling what is called IP Passthrough, allowing the Trendnet to do all the IP assignment.  Unfortunately I do not have a Uverse box in front of me to give you step by step.  But the other thing is that the Trendnet can be the only thing connected to the 2Wire and everything else connects to the Trendnet.  You will also have to turn off the wifi of the Uverse making the Trendnet the only access point for wireless.

You can also google "two routers with same SSID" and that will give you more info about making one of them an access point so you could potentially move them to different areas and always have a strong wireless signal.
