I'm building a gaming PC and I have a Z87 Motherboard without wireless capability. Is this product that I need if I want to connect to my home's WIFI? Thanks.

Frankly, I would be wary of using this. I have it on my desktop and it works with my friend's wireless but refuses to work with mine. Everyone is baffled by the issue and now my computer lives in my bedroom directly connected to the modem.

Has anyone had driver compatibility issues with Windows 8.1?

I have been running it with Windows 7 Pro.  Without the disk, Windows had issues with finding driver compatibility but the disk and site had driver support for Windows 8.  Tried it out on a family desktop that had Windows 8 and worked fine for us.  We disabled Firewall settings from Windows blocking driver support at first but was able to load drivers and have it function.

I've got only a spare PCIe x8 slot left.  This should work in there, right?  I ask because many other PCIe devices work that way.

The TRENDnet Wireless Utility App on PC won't open. I followed the steps: Installed it by CD, turned it off, Installed the PCI, and turned on the computer. I went to click on the app but it won't open. How do i fix it?

Don't use the Utility app.
To install:
1. Right click on computer and then click manage
2. When the computer management window opens, on the left hand side, click on device manager.
3. to the right there should be a list of things connected to your pc.  Look for unknown devices and expand that.  Inside you should see unknown device
4. Right click on the unknown devices and click update driver.
5. That should install the driver for the wifi and get you on the interwebs wirelessly.
