Question 1

I have a desktop pc. Would this work if i have plugged it in my computer and my router is downstairs  connected to the main line?

I use this adapter conneted to a netbook downsatirs in my home and it connects to a NetGear Wireless Extender on the same floor at 100% signal strength.  I also connects to my router on the 2nd floor at 85% signal strength woth no problem and 300mbs data rate.  Seems to have very good revieve strengt and the utility software has an excellent graphical power meter.

Question 2

With this adapter, can it support Windows 7? It says in the specifications Win 8 support. Does that mean I have to have Windows 8 in order for it to work?

My experience was unfortunate with this adapter.  I NEVER was able to get it work at all.  Both my computers are Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit).  Moreover, I tried everything - the web site, reviewer comments, Googled for answers, and even downloaded Rosewill software - nothing worked, not to mention that the software caused so many problems, I had to go back to a restore point date that was prior to installing it.  As to being compatible specifically with Windows 7, maybe that WAS my problem - perhaps it's not compatible.  Nonetheless, it just did not work - at all.

yes i use it on win 7 ultm and both Rosewill RNX-N180UB are running strong with full bars signal strength and one of my desktops are down in my basement, buy this USB wireless unit the driver im using is from 2012 and have zero problems with this baby unlike the new smaller ones that are a nightmare, i have a netgear wdr3500 router and you would never guess im running wireless, i stream HD video and watch live sports all day its a keeper with no need for ugly antennas..!

Could this be used with any laptop? Have an hp Vision Amd.

Question 5

Used in XP....great.  Now with Win 7, won't recognize it!  Uninstalled, and re-installed many times to no avail.  Installed it on my wife's computer to test, and it installed fine.  Any ideas?

try uninstalling again and use a different usb port to install it, one on the back of the computer is good.  win7 will disable a device when it cannot find the drivers for it and ignore it after that unless the usb port changes.

Im not sure if it does. I used it on a window 7 machine. I fear that since it is a 98 machine it will most likely not work.

Does it matter what kind of router/modem you have? I have a Motorola SBG6580 modem/router; will this be able to connect with it? My computer has a Windows 7, 32-bit operating system, will this device be compatible with it too?

Yes it will be able to connect to your Motorola SBG6580. Your modem/router is a wireless N router and this device can receive wireless n. That's what the 802.11n means. Hope that helps. This little adapter is pretty robust and I have never had a problem connecting it to a wireless router and I have connected to about 6 different routers because I work in IT consulting.

Would this work with the MSI mobile command center app? The app says the computer needs to be on a wireless network, (i use lan) and don't have a wireless router. Will it work? Or does it only receive and not transmit?

This will not work with that app. The app can only connect to your computer if they are connected to the same network

Googled the device by model number, and found Mac drivers for it, so that part of the question is answered in the affirmative. Still looking for feedback on performance from anyone actually using it on a Macbook.
