will this  appliance allow me to access all of my home network? Including my storage appliances?

Accepted Answer

It should. As an access point it will allow you on to your lan same as a wired nic. I have not tested the other functions but if it works as advertised you could plug it into a switch and have it connect to a wireless router or other wifi service and let you connect a few wired devices. The 5gig band does not seem to work well for me and there are no other 5 gig band devices in the area.

Question 2

Is this ea-n66r or ea-n66? The r has range extender mode.  I was not sure because title says ea-n66 but description talks about ea-n66?

The one I purchased through newegg in 2013 is an EA-N66R. The R I believe refers to Refurbished.

Question 3

I am trying to find a product that will allow me to connect my Marantz UD5007 Blu-ray Player, which has an Ethernet port that is designed to plug directly into a network, to my wireless home network.

Do I understand correctly that this product will plug into my player and allow it to connect to my network? (Understanding that I might need to first connect this device to my laptop first and establish to connection to my network, disconnect the ethernet cable from the laptop and then connect it to my Blu-ray player...)

You can do exactly that unless there's some strange incompatibility with your Blu-ray player. I set mine up with my laptop though it was a tasking exercise for some reason (maybe because I bought a refurbished one) but as soon as I had configured the N66r, I was able to successfully plug my TV into the N66R and it worked great. I   later had issues with my WDTV devices' wireless, so I took the TV off and plugged the WDTV device into the N66R and was immediately able to access my network. My setup is simple. My wireless modem is in my bedroom as I didn't want all the messy connections showing in the living room. The N66r is in the living room right next to my Cable box, WDTV and Receiver. I have no issues with bandwidth too.

My internet Point of Entry is downstairs, but I want to connect a couple of wired devices upstairs by plugging into this unit.  Will this work?

It has only one Ethernet port I have not tried to add a switch, but you still can connect other wireless devices. If you plan to get one for each device make sure you.have an extra power outlet Strip.  It works awesome for me, plus the ethernet connection is 1gbs. I can download amovie in a few minutes,  I am very satisfied alsoyou have to set up the router on the web and the  login is admin pw is admin. Good luck

I have att Uverse, my signal reception upstairs is lousy 1mg or less will this help?

Depends where your router is. If your router is downstairs for example, and you are getting at least 5 mbps, than this should boost the signal strength.

Hi, my mothers computer has a MB with a WiFi/AP antenna built on to it, however she is going to loose that function in a few days when I upgrade it to Windows 7 for security.  (As XP will no longer be updated, and the MB dose not have support for the AP/WiFi on 7)  Here is the problem:  My mother has a basic Kindle, it only connects to the internet via WiFi, and only has an Ethernet router.

Would this device be able to to act stand alone off a router Ethernet cable line as an AP/WiFi hotspot for her Kindle?

I really don't know for W 7.  The way this works is, you plug this device into an RJ45 jack (Not USB) on your system and access it on a web like "asusrouter dot com" the password is admin, user name is admin and answer questions on how you are going to use it----then you hit save.  When it locks onto the router it really locks on.  it has good range and it streams music /movies really well, I use Ultimate Vista.  I would recommend this connection device and would purchase another-----it's the closest to hardwire aside from hardwire I've ever used-----

Can I use two as repeaters on the same network? I would like to install one in the basement and the other one in the attic. Can connect both of them as repeaters to the existing wireless router?

yes i had 3 setup that way in a dentist office.  only issue is that the go out of sync every so often and you have to power cycle all of them to get them working again.

How can I use this product "ASUS EA-N66 Dual-Band Wireless-N900, 3 in 1 Access" as repeater via wireless network only?  I have modem/router on my first floor and its range is not reaching up to some rooms on second floor. I bought this product thinking that I can increase the wifi strength via this but looks like I need some internet port also on second port to connect this which I don't have. Please advise.

Yes, you can use the Aus EA-N66 as a repeater only. That is exactly how I am using it. I have my main router in the basement, and the EA-N66 is on the first floor and extends the wireless signal to first floor and second floor.

But be aware that even though it says "Dual-Band" it can not do both bands simultaneously. You can pick one - 2.4 GHz or 5Ghz and stick with it.

pulling in distant hotspot with usb wi fi adapter. will this extend the signal or connect to airport to extend th signal?

I was having issues getting my TV to pickup my Wireless Router in my home due to walls...netflix was constantly buffering. I purchased this and connected my TV to it via ethernet and now no problems. It really is going to depend on line of sight and distance. I originally purchased this to use as a repeater, but repeaters are in themselves flawed with wifi being half duplex and most of these devices not handling much power.
