Also support up to 4 ssids each on a different vlan. I have had really good luck with them.

As long as the antennas are pointing up you should have no issues with signal. However, you may also want to consider range and interference depending on the construction of the building.

I need to put this in a room that could service up to 6-10 devices at a time - is this capable?

This device did not work well for me. The configuration was a pain and I was unable to get anything to connect to it and remain connected for any lengthy period of time.
I would look at a different option of you need something that is stable...

Will this work with a Comtrend CT-5372 DSL modem/router?

i don't know about  comtend.  mine is a westtell, unless you are getting some kind of internet feed  it should, look in the specs  and see if they match. overall i believe from my experience it should work with any modem,  the only that might not is the securitys.  come with a mini disc  for that

If I use this as a repeater, can the LAN port on the back be used to connect a router to connect Cat5 devices?

If you put it in Bridge with AP mode, you would be able to connect two networks and this device would also be used as a wireless access point. however, it is not clear if this would need to be on a different sub-net or SSID as your wireless router, though I believe it would need to be.

This device operates in a couple different modes. If wired to another router and in access point mode it operates at optimum wireless speed levels provided you don't have this device to close to any other routers on the same channel and frequency. Bridge mode will connect this device to a router wirelessly and acts as a repeater boasting wireless signals. Another mode uses this device as a wireless adapter and simple turns any device wired into it to a wireless device. Look at the bottom of the device for setup/login info. Change modes using you web browser or provided app. I think this I a very versatile device but it's certainly not the latest and greatest!

I need to put this in a location where I need to get as much range as possible.  Has anyone tried to user upgraded antennas?  Such as the 9dbi antennas?

Also - are the antennas RP-SMA?

You would be wasting your money, it has built in 14dbi antenna that works great when you point in right direction. can reach up to a couple miles away.

I can't help you.  I use it as a wireless bridge. (client mode) This is where the unit receives a signal from my wireless router and I connect a Ethernet cable to the back of it.  Something like what they call a wireless game adapter.  Works great.

I travel a lot.  Hotel room wifi is often awful but also often better in one part of the room than another.  I would like to put this in the area with good reception and have it repeat the hotel wifi signal to the rest of the room.  Is this product capable of that?

Yes, you can do this, and if you have a wired connection you could even set up a secured wireless network of your own.  However, if they ask for you to sign in through a browser, you would have no way to do this and you would not be granted internet access. It would only work if it was open or if they give you a password with no registration required. Moreover, there is a more portable access points available on newegg which may suit you better: search for "Travel Router"
