Is this AP wall-mountable? Does it have a bracket or keyhole slots or something?

This unit does not come with a bracket but it is wall moutable via two keyhole slots towards the back.

Can I set a static IP address for this AP? Such as my network runs on a 10.0.0.x range. My DHCP pool runs through 10.0.0.200. Basically can I go into the settings on this AP and tell it to use, say 10.0.0.205 (I'll be turning the DHCP server off on the AP) so that the AP itself constantly uses .205 on my network. Thanks.

Yes you can. That is how I currently have mine configured. But beware that when you purchase this AP you need to update the firmware asap. It fixes a few bugs with atheros wireless adapters. Also backup the configuration as when you do firmware updates it wipes the configuration.

What is the hardware version of the product that would be shipped? The manufacture website indicates there are two version V1 and V2.

I bought this device to use as an Access Point to extend wi-fi into dead zones within the house.  I thought I would be wiring this to my combo modem/router but the instructions indicate that it is to be connected to a computer via a LAN ethernet cable.  The modem is on 24/7 but the nearest computer is turned on/off daily.  Is it possible to run this directly from the modem via PoE?  thanks!

My wireless access point is connected directly to my router through a LAN. It works fine that way...no computer interface needed.

How does it work?... What does it plug into? Does it sit by the main internet router or out where I need more connection?

This is a standalone access point that will not eliminate the requirement for a router to provide internet access. The most common use I can think of (and what I used it for) was to extend wireless coverage to an area in my house where the signal was weak from my existing wireless-router. One thing to keep in mind when setting it up (for best coverage results) is to not use the same channel if you do already have a wireless router installed. ( channels 1, 6, and 11 are the best choices since they don't interfere with each other). If your existing router does not have integrated wireless then place this device where you think you will need the best coverage and don't worry about the channel it is using. This will plug into one of the available ethernet ports on the router using a standard ethernet cable.

Does this create a second network? Will I be able to access the printers on my existing network? I do not want to create a second overlapping network, I just want  to extend or boost my existing network reach in my house.

It could create a second network if you configure it as a bridge. You'll need to plug your laptop into the unit for setup of SSID, your ISP's DNS servers and static ip address. Then mount it and plug it in to the router provided by your ISP. There is no need to configure bridge mode or multiple SSID's based on the information you provided in your question. Your on the right track with a wireless access point. Avoid getting a wireless router or bridge that creates a second overlapping network.

Would this unit be good for transmission from a house to a detached garage 30-45 feet away from router?

No, this thing is garbage.  They broadcast fine, but you constantly have to reboot them.

Question 9

Can this router still transmit/receive at 300mbps when using passive POE? My understanding is that passive PoE only supports 100mpbs connections.

The wireless connection from the TP-Link device to the user device will be 300Mb/s. However regardless of the Passive POE or not the Ethernet port on the device is only a 100Mb/s link. Therefore the throughput from the end user device to the next device past this one in your network will only be 100Mb/s. as it is said your network will only run at the speed of the slowest link.

will this work with windows 8, a hd tv and a cell phone?

It should work with Windows 8, it actually doesn't need drivers or anything, just a web browser to configure. The HDTV will need to be configured with the network name and password which you configure the TPLINK with. The same goes for the cell phone, it just needs the network name and password.
