This product is USB 2.0 .  I have two of them and they work well on windows 7 and XP.    TP-Link supports all the Windows drivers.  I have also used them in Linux.  If you are using Linux, know that you will have to download the driver source from ralink and compile the driver.

Does anyone know how this works on a 64-bit Windows OS? I'm having a problem with my current adapter and I realized the only things I've changed software-wise, is having more games and using Windows 7 64-bit instead of 32. So I'd like to know.

I have bought two and paired them both with separate builds using Win 7. I haven't swallowed the pill yet for Win 8 and I stopped using XP in 2009-10.

I have a Vizio tv with a bad wifi card.  Should this work in its place?

No, probably not. The internal WiFi card likely operates on an interface other than USB.

If the TV has an Ethernet port, get a short Ethernet  cable and strap a "wireless Ethernet bridge" to the back of the TV. The bridge would sit on your WiFi network and relay the communication back over Ethernet  to the TV.

I have OS, Windows 8.1 version. I install TL-WDN3200 driver on it. But it can't do well. The message that "The installer cannot run on this platform. Please select package for your operating system." How can I do on, please? Could it not install on Windows 8.1 OS.

Download the right driver from manufacturer's website mostly their support/driver section. Please match the model no. And version no. Printed on the product as an example ver 2.0 or ver 3.0 before download.  When done double click to start installation.

I just installed and it seems to have a problem with staying connected to my router.  Rather than slow internet, the device simply disconnects from the router entirely.

I also have an issue with keeping my programs selected.  Ever since I started using this, I have to keep clicking on whatever it is I'm using in order to keep using it.  For example, when I was typing this query kept having to re-click the text box or the page to continue.

Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have a solution?

I would suggest checking your signal and also look at other wireless access points in the area.  If your are using the 2.4ghz band, you and your close neighbors are all using channel 6, then I would try another channel on the router such as 1 or 11.

Also, if you are not using a dual band router and are on the 2.4ghz channel, a lot of other devices are in the 2.4ghz frequency.  On both 2.4ghz and 5ghz,  microwaves and strong electric motors such as washing machines and HVAC blowers can knock out your connection.

You need both good or excellent signal strength and link quality in order to maintain a connection.  Drivers have a lot of influence on connection also so make sure you are using the latest and correct driver for you OS.  Verify you have a good or excellent connection.  Remember, these are USB with built in antenna and most internal antennas are somewhat limited to distance from AP.

Most folks do not have dual band router, so using the 5ghz band is pretty clean.  I have never had a disconnect using the 5ghz band.  One drawback on the 5ghz band is you need to be closer to the router because the signal does not carry as far.

That being said, I have haven't had any problems with the adapter disconnecting from 3 different routers.   If you eliminate all other factors and the adapter will not stay connected, I would contact TP-Link for possible replacement.
