I have a canon pixma MG5420 connected to my XP computer via USB. My question is 'will this device allow me to connect  to this computer via wireless? Thus allowin for a second computer to use the same printer.

It will enable your computer to connect to a wireless network via a wireless router. The printer must also be connected to that network. So in short if you have a wireless network setup with a router it would enable you to print wirelessly from your computer without a cable. If you do not have a wifi router set up this will not let you connect to just the printer. Hope that helps.

This is a wireless network adapter that interfaces with the USB port of your desktop.  It has the same functionality as a wireless card.  Therefore, a wireless card will not be necessary.

Hello Carol

Yes, you will need software for this network adapter because Windows Vista does not have native driver support for it.  When you purchase the TP-Link Wireless N Adapter, it will come with the needed software, usually on a mini-cd.  If you have trouble obtaining the software, please feel free to let me know and I can email an attachment which will have what you need to get the wireless network adapter working.

Can this be used to connect a printer to the wireless network?

No, it cannot.  You can look at a wireless bridge, which makes an ethernet connection use wifi, /if/ the printer has ethernet.  If not, get a 'print server,' it is similar to a wireless router and has a usb connection made to connect to printers.  That is not guaranteed, almost definitely successful.

just plug it in to a USB port. any of the new windows OS should automatically find it. you should see a radio icon by your clock in the lower left hand side of the screen(if your tool bar is on the bottom).
left click on it and it will give you a list of available networks. choose your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your password(if you have one on your Wi-Fi) and then it should say "connected" after a few second.
then open a web browser and see if you're online.

the general description reads windows 10 compatibility, yet the specifications tab do not include windows 10 - my question is: is this windows 10 compatible????

Will this work with a TP-Link dual band gigabit Archer C7 V2 router?

According to the specs I found on that router. It should work fine but you will be limited to the max 150Mbps that this adapter is capable of. But you should also consider the max network speed that your Internet service provider allows. Unless you are pushing gigabit Internet speeds, this adapter is plenty.
