How's the wireless coverage and performance?

I think the coverage and performance is great. My phone still has a decent connection from about 50 feet through a insulated wall into my garage. And in my back yard it still has a wireless connection (albeit weak) from about 100 feet away though 2 inside walls and a sliding glass door.

Can it be used as an endpoint router and come with a vpn client? I want to use it to provide wireless access to an existing vpn rather than set up a vpn. Thanks

Yes it is like any other router, I have mine hooked up to the modem. A hook up like modem-router-this router works too.

Beware if you are hooking it on a plain switch/hub (non-router type) being that does not provide addresses, so you would have to do some manual setup.

For the most setups it should be automatic.

Does this support radius backend servers?

There is a lot that this router offers, but no, this router isn't that advanced - when it comes to vlans and security management. It also doesn't have a CLI that is of any use.

Win7 VPN only support one connection, Can I use this to support multiple connection simultaneously?

Multiple workstations running compatible VPN clients like Shrew Soft can connect to the TL-ER604W at the same time and gain access to the protected LAN resources.

Question 5

I would like to create a  proxy vpn using 2 routers. One would be in the main location and provide connection to the internet (i think wired into the local router as a client). 
The other would be used from a remote location and wired into the local network.
What I need is that no matter where I am with the second router  when I access any web server it needs to show that server my main location's ip address.  (I will be accessing a specific server that is ip address restricted).

Can I do this with 2 of these?

(If I am understanding you correctly) you can probably make this work, however must do a bunch of hand configuration.  If you block all traffic except through VPN (you may need to make static routing rules) and you use NAT (for a "main" address).  You may also need to tweak things like DNS (turn it off on the "remote" box, point your client to a DNS server at the "main" site).

I.E.  There is no magic switch that makes this work.  If you don't understand how the Internet works (DNS, VPN, routing, NAT, etc.) this isn't easy.

Having problem connecting to your cable modem?
For those having problems with their TP-Link connecting to the cable modem, try rebooting the cable modem. I noticed that the router won't connect to a cable modem that has previously connected to the internet. That is, if you have another working router connected and you unplugged it to install this new router, it would not connect. Clicking on detect, it would say static ip. Clicking renew doesn't work either. But if you reboot, cycle power, the modem, the router will connect. Hope this helps.
