Yes, you will need a usb connection on your motherboard or expansion card.

Will this work with Linux Lite?

I have used this card with linux Mint, Zorin, and Manjaro. And it works well. I also have had issues with other distros, so I can not say you will have luck with Lite. Hope this helps

yes as long as you use shielded cable that's the best but cost more, as long as you don't go over 10 feet (give or take a foot or two) then twisted cable would be a cheaper way to go.
