Yes, I did.  My prior service was A,T, & T.  In the Ooma set up, you are asked if you wish to port/keep your number. If you answer yes, a request is sent, and I received an answer within a few hours.

will the ooma show my home business name on outgoing calls?

Sorry, it took so long to answer but we finally got our Ooma fully set up yesterday.  When you activate your account, Ooma's online setup manager will ask you to enter a name that will appear on your caller i.d.  You can put that office name as the entry.  You do have a chance later on to go and edit that time.  It took us a while to get it all set up, but it's working now and I'm very pleased I made the decision to switch over.  I went with the premium acct and while our Ooma setup wasn't work I was able to have all the home calls come to my cell phone.  Ooma does give you two months of premium service free.  Premium also gives you a second line so that you can use one line for home and one caller I.D. for business.  I don't remember for certain but I believe that is possible.   Both lines go through the same phone system.  Amazingly, although I was told it would take about 3 weeks to port our old number, it only took about 4 days.  One of the big/time consuming issue is dealing with 8 power cords and 8 phone connectors to include our cable hookup, cable modem, wireless modem, Ooma, the phone and the fax machine.  Be sure to follow their instructions in exact order.

Question 3

How do I actually place a call on Ooma and what phone number do I have?

When you buy the Ooma device you also need to sign up for monthly phone service (in my area the basic package is less than $5/month).  You will get a new phone number from Ooma or in most cases you can have them port your existing phone number.

The Ooma device plugs into your internet router (which is how it sends calls to the outside world) and it also plugs into a phone jack in your house or apartment.  Once it's all connected and the service is activated, you pick up your phone and dial just like you would with a land line.  The Ooma device also acts like an answering machine for messages.

If you run it through your home phone lines to your landline phones,  will the voicemail work on your home phone system like a landline service?  Or does the voicemail only work on the ooma box?

You can use either voicemail system you would like.  Your existing, or the OOMA.  But, keep in mind that if you use your existing system you will not be able to use the voicemail forwarded to email, nor the check voicemail via the web options that the OOMA provides.

Is it new or refurbished?

I assumed it was new when I bought it.  It was not identified as a used unit.

I was shocked about the taxes I am paying, which amount to $13 per month for what little use we make of it.

Since I was using Skype for all of my calls before this, and the cost was $3.00 per month.   A detailed statement is not furnished.

will this run off my internet even if I do not have a phone line?

Yes. We got rid of our At&t landline and Ooms runs off of our Comcast service. You do need a good Internet service.  Note:  if you have trouble being heard, call Ooma. They updated our program remotely and I haven't had any complaints.

i have 6 phones, will ooma work or do i need to add more gizmos?

The Ooma has one phone line which I have plugged into a cordless phone system that has three handsets.  That configuration works very nicely for me. In the past I have used one splitter, which worked well also, but I have not used more than one splitter at a time.

what is the measurements of Telo 2?

It's about 6"x8" sloping upward from about a half inch to a little over one inch. Looks (and acts) like an answering  machine.

Can this unit connected via WiFi, rather than Ethernet?

There is an adapter to buy separately that plugs into the USB port for Wifi and Bluetooth (for connecting cell phones) capabilities. I think there used to be a Wifi only adapter also.
