What is the approximate battery life?

Hard to say. I use mine a lot at night unplugged just surfing the web and it lasts a long time 4+ hours. Gaming not so long but why would you game unplugged. I did take this on a trip from Ohio to Florida and watched movies the entire flight in the battery save mode and once we landed my iPad was dead after about 2 hrs and laptop still had over 50% battery. I don't let it go dead but I will occasionally run it down to 10% to condition the battery. Hope this helps. This is an awesome PC.

Question 2

MSI has a very good reputation with build quality. Anyone know if the 1TB w/8mb cache is good enough for gaming (thought it would have been at least a 32mb cache)? Newegg has a great MSI product video/evaluation link on this if you're new to MSI btw.

A SSD is an order of magnitude better (don't even need to add "gaming" to that)  than any rotating platter. With only A 128 GB SSD you do have to manage the games you have installed a little bit, but I have a good handful installed just fine.

A SSD makes for much faster load time, which usually only occurs during level changes or application load time. It doesn't have too much affect during gameplay.

just wanted to make sure that, that this is a 1TB SATA  + 128mSATA, and not in fact a 1TB SATA HDD + 128gb ssd HDD?

Its a 128GB solid state drive and a 1TB 7200rpm hard drive. I love this laptop I have had alienware and Asus gaming and this blows them all away. It boots fast and is super fast with all the apps and programs I have installed. Only draw back is that the 128GB is used up fast if you don't partition the hard drive and have programs install on the 1TB hard drive.

Does this laptops mobo support Raid 0 by any chance, for example two 500gb velocirpaptor WD notebook drives or is it one drive and a mini bay? Thanks for the help, couldn't find this in specs.
