Pros: I have only owned my computer for about 3 weeks.I ordered mine directly from the manufacturer and got to pick it up from the warehouse. In the past i have owned alienware computers and so i will make comparisons as such.
My first impression of the computer was actually much better than i expected. I got a great deal for my computer and when you pay 1050.00 USD for a gaming laptop you tend to worry about how cheap it must feel considering all the high end hardware bundled. I honestly expected to recieve a cheap body and mediocre workmanship. To my suprise however these cyberpowerpc are well build.the case of the laptop is really solid, the screen hinges are great and wont randomly change angles on you. Overal i would rate build quality at a 9.5/10. The only thing i would suggest to the manufacturer is to put some dust shielding on the bottom vents under the laptop.
I ordered my computer with no os but found windows 8.1 installed. This gave me a chance to test out the system before i even left the warehouse. I installed a 120GB mushkin msata when i got home and had to go through a bit of a process to get it to work. PLEASE NOTE, this computer is actually built by msi for cyberpower pc. it is therefore the same as the MSI GE60 and you can find all drivers you need to downgrade to windows 7. ALSO remember to go into the bios and change your boot mode from default into LEGACY or you wont be able to get windows to recognize the msata. You can then go ahead and set the hard drive priorties as you wish. I will now let you in on a little secret that isnt marketed with this laptop. Its got two msata slots and you can thus run a raid setup with them. Sorting out the bios settings took me a while so just take your time you will figure it out.
When i finally got a chance to game with the computer I was blown away. the 1080p ips diplay is great. I am glad it isnt the glossy type that always has reflections over it. Word of advice, this being a 15.6 inch screen letters tend to be so small on the screen. increase the font size through display settings and you will be much happier. The speakers on the computer are also good.No premium subwoofer but great sound and great placement of speakers above the keyboard.keyboard is backlit and very easy to see and type with. Furthermore the computer has a key you can press to run the fans constantly high when you need to. The noise from the fan isnt iritating. In fact i was a little worried that having a single fan solution for both processor and graphics chip would be an issue but temps remain within spec and everything is running fine even under heavy load. The placement of the fan on the side rather than back also makes gaming with pc on you lap very confortable.you dont have to worry about getting burnt.I rate the gaming experience on this a solid 9.7/10
This computer is a HUGE BANG for your buck item. Alienware couldnt dream of giving you hardware like this for the money. Best of all the computer doest look like a t
Cons: No dust shielding on bottom vents(minor issue) most people wouldn't even notice
The dvd drive tends to make noise and vibrate a little. Not much of an issue. who really games with cds or dvd anyways.
Overall Review: I am glad I made the leap from alienware to cyberpower/msi. I would have spent more money to get the alienware 14 and it would have come with a weaker graphics card. Overall I am happy with my purchase and saved a lot of money too. look online for discount coupons too. they help a lot especially if you buy direct from the manufacturer
Pros: Fast and easy to use
Cons: Right after on year passed, keyboard lights went out on right half.
Pros: Nice laptop. Has everything needed for gaming or high end work. Nice price.
Cons: Stopped working after slight use (only turned it on about 50 times in a year) . GPU dead system turns on but does not POST. Sys powers on (fans, lights, usb) but screen does not turn on. RMA process is a big pain and they want info from blackfriday 2013.
Overall Review: Would be nice to have it working again since it was running my VM's for class.
Pros: - Fast and powerful at a great price point.
- A lot slimmer and sleeker than the photos depict.
- Usually boots within 7-8 seconds WITHOUT a SSD.
Cons: - Ran into 1 BSoD, not a huge deal.
- Wifi is pretty sketchy.
- USB ports don't seem very secure.
Overall Review: Windows 8.1 can go fall off a cliff.
Pros: great laptop great specs
Cons: it has a full touch pad with no seperate left and right
Pros: The computer is fast, with a short boot up time despite the lack of an SSD. The display is crystal clear, which is great considering I was downsizing from a 17.3 inch one.
It runs relatively quietly while rendering video from a live stream. Despite the description saying it weighs 10lbs, it feels surprisingly light.
I haven't done any heavy duty gaming on it yet, but overall my first impressions of the system are really positive.
Cons: The lid has a glossy plastic type material that looks both somewhat fragile and easy to smudge.
The system came with an error that prevented it from being immediately used. It was a BEX error that was remedied with a Windows update. It's relatively minor, but its solution might confuse a not savvy individual.
The headphone jack has a strange resistance that requires a good push to get the whole connector in. It made me feel like I was breaking it, but I wasn't.
Overall Review: The cons are merely cosmetic. I am super happy with it currently, and it runs great!
Pros: Great specs for the pricetag on a gaming series laptop. The 765M has really no trouble plowing through most of the games my GF throw at it. Very good weight with decent color. Pretty much what I expected it to be.
Cons: Two months into ownership now and it suddenly caught the plague. Slowed down to a crawl, games lagged, internet lagged, everything lagged. Turned out it was using 80% memory while idle. The curse of the memory leak on Windows 8.1. Made the laptop pretty much a 1000 dollar paperweight. Decided to just format with Windows 7 and it literally took me 4 hours to find all the drivers. Fangbook, CyberpowerPC and HX6-110 all returned me with no useful information when I searched Google for drivers. The only thing I could find were product reviews, go figure. After a TON of digging through forums, I finally came across a post of someone having the exact same issue with the HX7 series. They were pointed at a laptop from MSI that has the exact same specs with, surprise, driver listings. So why I had to go download MSI drivers for this PC, I don't know. Maybe MSI owns them. Either way it should NOT have been THAT much of a hassle to find drivers for this laptop.
Overall Review: Had Windows 8 not been such a bad OS, I would have 5 egg'd this. Newegg, as usual, is amazing.
Pros: 1. Gaming is top notch for the price
2. Keeps very cool with the accelerated fan option
3. Best computer for its price
4. Have had no real issues
Cons: 1. One big memory leak, but never happened again
2. Track pad takes a bit to get used to
Overall Review: If this is within your price point, there is no better computer your money can buy! Excellent product would by from CyberPowerPC again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
