The M70Vm from Asus revolutionizes the way you get your entertainment on the go, and it can improve your privacy and productivity. The 17" screen has a 1920x1200 resolution and supports full 1080p HD images. An nVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS GPU with 512MB of dedicated memory drives the screen.
The webcam at the top of the display works with face recognition software so you can log on with just a look, or use the fingerprint reader by the touchpad for additional security. It also doubles as an audio visual control panel at the flick of a switch, and the keyboard has a numeric keypad, something usually found in larger notebooks.
All of this functionality is great, but useless in isolation. So, there's a plethora of wired and wireless connection options. Circling the shell are 4xUSB, 1xFireWire, 1xRJ-11, 1xGigabit Ethernet, 1xHDMI and more. Wireless connectivity includes 802.11a/g/n and Bluetooth V2.1. There is also a WiMAX transceiver so you can take advantage of the latest technologies.
Pros: This machine was perfect for what I was looking for. It preforms very well in CS:S and in WoW also it preforms very nicely for media.
Cons: Now, for the cons, the only reason that i did not give this machine a 5 is because it bios were old and had to be flashed... what i want to know is how there was a bios on the box that was so old that the hardware would not function without a bluescreen every 5-10 minutes. However after the bios has been flashed and a word to Asus tech not to mention an hour of downtime i have had no problems
Overall Review: Overall a good laptop. But, i meen how do you sell a system with a bios that is 4 updates behind... C'mon Asus...
Pros:
I don't know where that other guy went to school, but vista home premium 32 bit sees the FULL FOUR GIGS of ram. This machine is awesome. You will complain about any other machine once you use this beast. It does get a little warm, but its a nice heater in the winter. I picked up a rosewill dual fan laptop cooler with it, keeps it nice. This thing can run any software at high speed. No waiting. Name any program, it will load in UNDER 5 Seconds!! Once your past the welcome screen, 11 tray items load in nanoseconds.
Truly the best machine I have ever owned, and its got instant on linux.
Cons: Update your Video and Wireless drivers ASAP, they cause bluescreens. Fingerprint reader is super touchy, dolby speaker system (2.1) does get a little loud. When in its bag, your shoulder can get a little sore, cus its so heavy.
Overall Review: If you have the money, buy it.
Pros:
* T9400 Processor. Laptops in this price range with this processor are virtually all but unheard of.
* WUXGA 1920x1200 resolution is sufficient for viewing two PDF / Office document pages side by side. Also excellent for Photoshop.
* Finger print reader/facial recognition works very well
* 5200maH 8 cell battery (Sony sells 6 cells on a similiar spec model) provides decent battery life given the goodies this thing is filled with
* eSATA. This is invaluable. You can pick up an Antec sATA enclosure and attach your old internal hard drives with transfer rates approx 5x that of USB 2
* Solid build, nice keyboard
* Best standard warrantee (Incl. accidental coverage 1 year) I have ever seen for a laptop at this price. It's a steal.
* Optical mouse, cleaning cloth and NICE carrying case included. This is simply unheard of.
* VERY exceptional wirless reception
* Ambient light sensor (disable when on AC with Fn-A saves power like my Blackberry.
Cons:
* Screen is of such a high resolution (1920x1200) that you may need a new eyeglass prescription !
* 9600M GS is a bit underpowered for gaming... but MUCH more than sufficient for any other task you can throw at it
* 5400 RPM hard drive. One easy fix = eSATA using a 7200 RPM large drive. This system does let you boot from the bios from an eSATA drive.
* The usual Vista x32 RAM limitation. I have successfully installed Vista x64 Ultimate with no problems. The included driver disk includes the 64 bit drivers even though it says 32bit only. Works flawlessly, aside from the 3rd party software compatibility issues inherent in Vista x64.
Overall Review:
The 3 year old desktop this is replacing is going in the trash. This laptop makes it unbearable to use.
Compare to Dell, Sony, HP etc and try to find a similarly spec'd machine that comes anything close to this for under about $1800-2000. You won't find it. Especially with this Centrino 2 T9400. And you won't get the same warrantee.
Buy this without any hesitation.
Pros:
-Sleek Design
-ASUS Reputation [latop is a great example]
-Decent sound for a laptop
-Vibrant screen [Little to none on reflections]
-GREAT fingerprint scanner for user verification
-Great feel on the keyboard
-Very quick
-Impressed on first sight
-Not a single dead pixel [Though the pixels on this thing are so small, you should win a reward if you in fact do find one.
-Has a minor sub on the bottom of the laptop which I honestly DID NOT know came with. Lol
-Came with bag
-Easy to install
Cons:
NOTE: None of these are tecnically cons since I knew this information prior to purhasing the laptop.
-No Blueray
-Slightly heavy
-Split drive (one is moved aside for data)
-Does not do my dishes
Overall Review:
Chose this over a custom Dell Studio laptop I was about o buy, including a company discount offered by Dell. Chose this laptop last second due to a friend of mine suggesting it.
Best purchase I have ever invested in.
Pros: Excellent Laptop with the great display and sound. Handled every program without a problem. Lots of great features and its a big.
Cons: Slow boot up time because of 5400RPM hard drive but it's not that bad.
Overall Review: It reminds me of a Transformer(from the movie)
Pros: Fast, great display, has run everything I have thrown at it with high performance.
Cons: I am starting to question the build quality. After one month of daily use, the cooling fans have developed a very loud rattle and grinding sound.
Overall Review: I'll be contacting Asus for a warranty repair, hopefully I was simply unlucky and got a fan with a bad bearing. Everything else about this laptop has been fantastic. Assuming my problem is easily fixed, I would absolutely recommend this laptop.
Pros: Shreds video on the road like a champ
Cons: internal drive is only rated at 5400 rpm... bit slow to boot.... does not affect cutting video from my external drives too much

Pros: I got this machine and as soon as i opened the box it was like Christmas morning. The screen quality is perfect! and talk about quite. This thing is absolutely perfect for what I needed it for. It is great for World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike: Source. It is also wonderful for typing essays due to the huge keyboard.
Cons: I got a machine with a faulty RAM card, fortunately ASUS has a great tech support/RMA system and 1 day after being in their possession, my laptop was on the plane back to Alaska.
Overall Review: Overall, a wonderful machine, quite, awesome screen quality, good for the average gamer, and big key board.
If you have the money, buy it for sure.
