Pros: Quick, tiny, and a keyboard that is more comfortable then it should be. I've used other netbooks and this comes the closest in feel to a normal keyboard then any others I have used. Bluetooth, HDMI, USB3. Screen looks great.

Cons: Gets hot pretty quickly, battery life could be a bit better. Some ram is wonky with this machine, sticks with 8 chips work, sticks with 16 chips (8 per side) do not work.

Overall Review: Wish it were easy to find an larger extra battery. Takes some time to uninstall the junk software. I have it dual booting with Ubuntu 11.04 and almost everything works out of the box.

Okay netbook with compromises 7/18/2011 6:45:03 AM

Pros: Can play 720P HD streaming video, good-enough battery life

Cons: CMOS battery died after a few months of purchase, I replaced it with a non-factory battery bought at CVS and made it working again, was expecting the battery to last much longer on a brand-new laptop.

Get very hot if watching video continuously, still cannot play true 1080p streaming video after trying all different combination of drivers. Nvidia Optimus works only with Opera browser for some reason (after upgrading to W7 Ultimate), doesn't work with IE, Firefox or Chrome. On a Netbook Opera is my default browser so I don't particular mind, but still.

Still a bit on the heavy side at 3.2 lbs, battery life at a realistic 5 hours can be improved.

Overall Review: I was looking for a video-competent long-battery-life replacement for my Atom netbooks. Video performance and battery life is most important to me, so I thought Nvidia ION2 Optimus would be the natural choice.

Asus 1015PN is more or less okay but not exceptional. Its video performance is much better than the Atoms, but falls short of playing the 1080p videos; its battery life is also better than the Atoms (when not playing video), but again becomes unsatisfactory once you start watching video.

All in all, I don't see a much better alternative at the moment (taking price into consideration), so I would still recommend giving this a try if you have the same requirements as I did.

Huge price for low quality. 7/7/2011 5:24:35 PM

Pros: I purchased this from another competative site. this netbook has alot of great, great features. for one, it doesn't look like a netbook, its sleek, and has curves where they need to be. that being said, there are some very, very serious cons that need to be addressed.

Cons: BIOS support is limited, website claims certain memory modules to be compatable when they are not, with few bios updates, it leaves more to be desired. the materials used to make the pc feel cheap, a regular laptop is at least solid, this feels like i'm going to break it if I don't center the gravity when I pick it up. the chicklet keyboard is very poor quality, the keys are flimsy, and they stick up way too far from the board, allowing debris and other foreign material to easily slip underneath. the HP mini's keyboard is a more desired keyboard. the touchpad works well, but the click button is very narrow, and hard to push down. The netbook also get's very hot, including the power brick it comes with to charge it. Overall the PC performance is wonderful and this should be at least the bare minimum any netbook should be, as far as performance. the screen is great, and captures alot of realestate for a netbook, it doesn't feel cramped at all, but could be higher resolution..not HD.

Overall Review: this is a great start....but there is more to be desired. limited ram support (and trust me, you will upgrade) also the board is capable of supporting 4gb of Ram, and i'm not sure why they only have 2gb max. windows home premium should be standard, windows starter is unacceptable at this price point. the Nvidia graphics do a good job, however the performance they talk about compared to an integrated graphics card is minimal at best. battery life is great, but the PC pushes alot of heat when using the ION graphics. I hope this review helps anyone interested in getting the ASUS, they are almost always high quality, but I feel they just missed out on what could have been an amazing EEE pc with the 1015pn. My personal advice, Strengthen the keyboard, make the buttons on the keypad easier to push, better construction, and easier access to the HDD and ram (the door for the ram is extremely delicate, and alot of force is required to remove it, a better solution is needed.)

Great netbook 7/7/2011 2:09:05 PM

Pros: Fantastic battery life
Great portability
Ion Tegra nVidia enhances video performance

Cons: Would be nice if it had an eSata port
Also, USB3.0 would be nice.
Should come with a case like my previous 1000HE

Overall Review: Great netbook for students and people on the go

A Follow Up 6/22/2011 12:20:01 PM

Pros: This is my Second Review, my last one was Titled

pros are the same as before

Cons: 1080p videos won't play smoothly, i've tired many different players, different codecs, and even tried linux! 720p is as good as it gets for this netbook, if you try 1080p the audio will play, and the video will freeze, then play for a second, then freeze . . . etc..

after about 4 months the batery died, had to ship it to Asus for them to get me a new one, not that big of a deal, only cost me like $10 for the shipping, everything else was free.

the freezing i was talking about in my first review doesn't happen much any more, now it just likes to freeze randomly for up to a minute while i'm playing music in my car... pretty embarrassing when your driving with your top down and the music randomly cuts out lol

Overall Review: so i dropped it one more star from my original review because it's advertised to play 1080p, but cant.

interestingly, linux has a hard time finding proper drivers for the ION GPU, so i wen't back to WIN7.

still trying to find a way to get my laptop and my radio to connect via Bluetooth, talking to the radio manufacturer, they say it can't happen... so i guess i have to wait for someone to hack some drivers and make it work

i'm not upset with this netbook, but sometimes i feel like it was a down grade from my last one which had better battery life and no freezing problems.... but this one will still connect to a tv
