Pros: i7, 16 gig RAM, 256 SSD, & 3gig NVIDIA 670 GTX. Very responsive system. I'd give it a 92/100 score.
Cons: Power brick is massive. Nothing like you've seen before. Windows 8 is also tricky at first, but with some tweaks (add start button to desktop to simulate Windows 7) and getting used to the new GUI it's not bad. I know a lot of people are complaining about Windows 8 because its difficulty to navigate, but it's a very nice interface once you get used to it. I'm personally a power user so Windows 7 Pro would have been the best option for me, but I'm happy with this so far. I haven't found any compatibility issues with my programs yet so keeping my fingers crossed. Give yourself about 1-3 weeks of getting used to Windows 8 before bashing it. I think that is reasonable.
Overall Review: I did want to want before I gave a review on this due to the learning curve of Win8, but overall I'm very satisfied. I use this laptop for gaming (BF3, Team Fortress, AC3), VMWare (Player, Workstation, and ESXi), GNS3 (network simulator), and Adobe products. Due to the 16Gig of RAM and beefy graphics card I'm flying through all of my daily activities. This laptop is very big and heavy, please keep this in mind. If you want this to be a very portable laptop, I would say go with a MAC or ultra book. If you are a power user, this one is for you.
Pros: *Lightning fast startup (disable unneeded startup apps) *SSD for OS and games is great *nVidia 670M plays Skyrim, AC3, BF3 at high/ultra levels without a hitch *Screen/resolution is very good at 1920x1080
Cons: *Sound without headphones is "scratchy" *When the room is otherwise quiet you hear the low hum from the gpu fan.
Overall Review: *Since I travel quite a bit, I bought this to be able to play games at a high level on the road. So far, so good. *I was somewhat skeptical about Windows 8 pre-installed on the system, but, after 3 days of a bit of heavy learning, I'm liking it more and more. *I believe this unit has fulfilled my expectations. I'll be interested to see how it does in the long run.
Pros: 1) more ram than you could ever need 2) the gpu is outstanding with 3g ddr5 3) over clocking processor 2.4/3.4 :) 4) overall design and feel is great
Cons: only one con I can think of and its windows 8 not a fan but its interesting to see what Microsoft is doing now a days with their OS. I still prefer a desktop instead of tiles even though you can chose, I would rather have one over the other Im old fashioned. nothing that would make me drop an egg for.
Overall Review: I love it. it evens plays my favorite computer games like the original bf2, quake 4, and bf 2142. just waiting on bf3 to see how far I can push the graphics and performance on this monster. I also own a lot of Asus parts and hardware and I have never had any complaints about them Keep up the good work, and I have been shopping with newegg for almost 10 years and never had a problem I get all my parts and software from here and I think most problems on here are due to user error not the company thanks newegg.
Pros: - Plays Starcraft II on the best graphics settings without getting hot or slowing down the frame rate. (My previous ASUS laptop (G60Jx) would get really hot to the touch while playing games and couldn't handle battles with hundreds of Zerglings.) - Takes just a few seconds to boot up. - Battery lasts for at least a few hours - Nice metal plate around the keyboard - Anti-glare screen - All connectors are on the sides of the laptop - Heat is blown out the back, away from me.
Cons: - The optical drive is really noisy while it is active, unless I press on it in a certain way. This indicates some mechanical malfunction, but it works fine. - In Linux, I haven't been able to get the backlight control hotkeys to work, and the HDMI output has artifacts unless you use it with a good cable. I blame the Linux drivers, not ASUS. - It's a big, heavy laptop, but that's what you would expect for this level of performance.
Overall Review: It's a great laptop!
Pros: Simply what any gig would wish for; Strictly for power users only please! Asides from gaming, it's an ideal tool for e-learning course authoring and rendering. Thanks ASUS
Cons: None yet! Perquisite is your good knowledge of windows 8 navigation which is not a problem for me.
Pros: You have seen the specs , this laptop is FAST responsive , comfortable , maybe its not light weight but its wheight is greatly balanced . i absolutelly adore this laptop however ...
Cons: there are a lot of minor issues , nothing that a trip to the BIOS can't solve but the backlit keyboard has issues some usb ports have issues , there a lot of things you have to manually polish . windows 8 is a problem for about 1 week until you start liking it
Overall Review: i highly reccomend this laptop however you should bare in mind that without some basic tech knowledge the minor issues i talked about will really bother
Pros: Full keybaord with 10-key. Large screen with great display (compared to my home built rig from 2006). I bought this as my personal computer for mostly gaming, and internet surfing with light use of MS Office. Fast start up and runs quite although after 3 hours of RIFT I did start to hear the fans kick in from time ot time.
Cons: Price - it is expensive, but I'm hopeful it will last me 5-8 years before i need to upgrade again. Heavy, but that was expected. Placement of touchpad- for gaming I use the left side of the keyboard. it would be nice if the touchpad was offset to the right side of hte case, but not a biggy.
Pros: The construction is top quality. Nothing about this laptop feels cheaply made. The fans are quiet. You almost never hear the fans even at full load. The keyboard is arranged nicely.
Cons: The sound. As other people are saying the base is a little low and the speakers have a tin sound to them. That being said they do get louder than other laptops I've had so that could be seen as a plus.
Overall Review: The size is large and there is some weight to the machine, but that is to be expected. Mine did have Windows 8 installed on it and seeing as I did not use the trial at all the learning curve was a bit steep. Windows 8 could not find the speakers and so there was no sound for a bit. I updated and restarted and they have work ever since.
