This product has only the one very negative review regarding the laptop not being refurbished like it was said to be. Was that a onetime error or are these laptops actually refurbished?

My notebook came in "as new" condition. I bought it as a refurb. I can only say after half a year I am very pleased with it. The biggest complaint I have would be that it has Windows 8, but as I bought this for my wife I am not bothered by it. (Neither is she) She has used it daily since the purchase with no hardware problems. The I5 is very fast, much faster than my T4400 dual core but not as able to handle multiple tasks as my sons quad core.  Notebook was shipped without manufacturer's box or material. Hard drive does have partition for recovery. I updated to 8.1 with no problems. I have newegged for years and know they sell what they say and back it up. If you want "new", pay for it. Either way a product can show up at your door damaged. Where do you think 'Refurbs' come from? Great price too, IMO.
