some of the reviews i have read for the ASUS Viviobook v400ca indicate that there is a 32GB SSD. Can you knindly confirm if this model has a  32GB SSD in addition to the 500GB HDD?

Asus website states that it does (not just the reviewsmention it). The specs listed by Newegg at the time of my purchase did not list an SSD, and the unit I received did NOT have that feature despite the same model number. I suppose I should have been more upset than I am, but Newegg did not make an affirmative misrepresentation that I can see--though the unit's price now appears inflated without the the SSD.

Overall, it is a good performer for the price.

No it does not have a physical dvd/cd drive. I did find that I was able to mount my MS Office .iso file however and run it for setup/install.

We normally use it at home plugged in so I haven't had a chance to test the battery life.
It never overheats and I cant recall it ever even getting warm to the touch.  Never noticed hearing the fan either.
