I understand this product is refurbished, however does it look like new or used?

The one I received looked brand new. Also the term refurbished doesn't necessary mean it was ever used either. It could have had a bad small part when it was originally made and they had to replace it and in turn also have to sell as refurbished. The one have have looks brand new and works amazing. I highly reccomend this ASUS X especially at the refurbished price.

Question 2

Do these computers come with a security program like PC maestro?

Judging from this page, I'd say no, and thankfully so. Mine came with McCaffe internet security trial, and some Asus bloatware, but I don't actually use windows on it. I would recommend getting your protection from a third party like Kaspersky or Norton as they tend to have much higher standards than hardware vendors. And don't ever forget; you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to security.

Can this laptop run a music recording program like pro tools or sonar effectively?

To make this short the answer is no. you will need a much more advanced laptop. the sonar website tells you the minimum requirements to run their program. however this is an absolutely great computer for everyday use, lot of nice features and the price can't be beat. definitely a good deal.

What is the battery life on this model?

My battery usually lasts about 4 hours for regular office use. This time is reduced to 2 to 3 hours if I use WIFI.

does this laptop have bluetooth capabilities? it has everything else i want and the price is right!

No Bluetooth built in, but if you don't need all 3 of the USB ports for other devices Bluetooth can be VERY easily added with a cheap little USB adapter (Asus even makes a couple, just search Newegg for Asus Bluetooth).  I'm not personally using the laptop I ordered, but the customer I got it in for has been happily using it with no issues =)

Does the memory last long?

Gave the computer to my daughter at school, and she likes it a lot.  Don't know what you mean by "does the memory last long"?  Do you mean does it fill-up or deteriorate?

I am a writer. Would this be a good computer for me?

It is a reasonably solid for an inexpensive computer. Touch screen is nice as well. Have had for 6 mo and it's been great

Is this computer touchscreen capable?  Running a google search, it seems this model isn't, but it's advertised that way.

Yes its a touchscreen. If you touch a area a touchscreen keyboard come up so you can enter what ever you want. I never use the touchscreen, I thought I would use a lot but I don't. I believe if it was a tablet/laptop and could separate it would be used a lot.

Does it support Autocad 2014?

If you were able to install it on a windows 7 machine previously it will. You just have to get accustomed to windows 8.1 and exiting the apps mode but you can run anything program previously designed to run on a windows 7 os.

Question 10

In the description it mentions a super-multi dvd, but in none of the product pictures does it show a dvd.  I wanted to know if it actually comes with one or if this is an error?
