ASUS ROG GL551JK-EH71 15.6" Intel Core i7 4th Gen 4710HQ (2.50 GHz) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M 12 GB DDR3L Memory 750 GB HDD Windows 8.1 64-Bit Gaming Laptop

Pros: This is my first laptop. I've got a fully-built dekstop rig at home, I just wanted something that I could bring to work and play some games during my downtime. Pros: Decent boot up-speed (although not as fast as an SSD, might want to swap it out). The i7 has no lag compared to my girlfriends i3 and i5 laptops. Keys are nice, easy to press chiclet keys with 3 levels of backlighting. From what I understand, the screen *IS* IPS as ASUS says on their website. The metal chassis and cover look and feel great, but if you sweat at all, you will smudge and show marks. Just another small nit-pick issue. Battery life is around ~1 hour with "High Performance" and playing games, around 2hrs if you are at Balanced and playing easy-to-run games, and I have yet to test it with just internet browsing, but I'm guessing no more than 4 hrs. Which means don't go anywhere without your charger!

Cons: The number pad is too close to the keyboard, so I occasionally press the > arrow key instead of "0" (as the 0 key is a double-length key on regular keyboards. Just a nit-pick issue to me. Also, I've got maybe 3-4 hours of running time on it so far, and Windows 8.1 has crashed twice due to "DRIVER_STATE_POWER_FAILURE", I have yet to look into it. Speakers are not very loud compared to most consumer laptops with Beats audio. But I guess this laptop was designed to be used with headphones. The GTX850M is 2GB of DDR3, not DDR5, so it loses an Egg for that. I guess ASUS had to justify the $200 price difference between the -JK and the -JM (Which has 4GB more ram and a DDR5 GTX860M).

Overall Review: I bought this for Black Friday at $849.99. Compared to other laptops classed in the same price and processor class, I chose this because of the name brand (I have ASUS mobo in my desktop). I would not pay the $1,049.99 MSRP sticker price for this. I just don't see the difference versus my girlfriends consumer-grade i5 HP laptop (granted it doesnt run games as well but I think with this, you are paying for a name). If you aren't a brand monkey, I'm sure you could find an equally-to-higher spec'd laptop for less money.

Pros: Very fast machine and very nice looking with the red back lit keyboard. Have not tested with a huge amount of games but every one that I did try has been running smooth with no problems.

Cons: Didn't really have any cons for the system so far other than it does get a little hot in the top and bottom right but I expected that for a newer laptop.

Pros: With the specs and the outlook for this price are really great, and the black and red style is just what i wanted.

Cons: I think the shipping didn't satisfy from what I paid, but I was fine since it was black Friday when I ordered it. there were lots of spams app were pre-install but its an easy fix, and the upgrade for the hardware is hard since i can't really open the bottom of the pc , to upgrade a ssd on it.

Overall Review: Good laptop if you just want to game, just have to install some start up tools to boost this bad boy !

Pros: Good price for a laptop like this. I like it very much. It is a little bit heavy but thin. Even compare to some ultrabooks. Good for nearly all of the games and very useful for programming.

Cons: A little bit heavy. Battery could only do 4 hours------actually good enough.

Pros: fast for the 15 mins i booted it up

Cons: LCD has dead pixel and where dead pixel is LCD is also raised up I believe the panel is defective. RMA'd back to newegg 10 mins ago. I just want a replacement new model

Overall Review: extremely irritated that I have to RMA and wait another week for a laptop which may or may not have another issue

Pros: It works fine I can play league, overwatch and diablo 3 without any problems.

Cons: Charger breaks esily It gets overheated

Pros: If I could rate it lower, I would!

Cons: Laptop died this morning--a year and two months after purchase. No problems beforehand. Spontaneously powered itself off and all lights are dead. Nice!

Pros: None to speak of

Cons: The case smudges easily, the machine overheats, the keys are hard to see, the customer service is minimal.

Overall Review: Please do yourself a favor and do NOT purchase an ASUS laptop. I bought one for my wife for Christmas. After a few months it began to shut off after 30 minutes. Our research revealed that it was a known defect. After shipping it to ASUS, they replaced the mother board. ASUS kept the original box and sent the laptop back in a flimsy cardboard box. They included very little in the way of explanation, only that they had made a repair. We are now having problems with the mouse and illumination on the keyboard. We are trying to get ASUS or Newegg to refund our money. We are not interested in the laptop any longer as ASUS has clearly demonstrated their interest in customer service. Hopefully we can unload this horrible product and replace it with one from a company that is worthy of our business and our 1 thousand dollars.
