No. I wish it did.
That's its only shortcoming: I love this device and use it way more than my high-end 15" laptop. It's light and fast and does 95% of what I need a computer for: web stuff. It's a steal!

I don't use Microsoft Word, but here is a link to chromebook help which indicates it is possible to edit Word docs in in Google Docs.

Do you actually use the flip function, or is it a total gimmick?

95% of the time I use it in laptop position. And if I'm reading a long article or e-book, then I find the tent position really nice. That feature was one of the selling points for me, if only because I can adjust the viewing angle exactly the way I want. 
I really love this little gem, and was disappointed after 3 months that it stopped taking a charge. ASUS readily accepted my warranty claim, and it's on its way now. Am eager to get it back: it has replaced my 15" high-performance laptop as my main machine.

Does ASUS garuntee it will run Anroid applications?

You have to ask ASUS - mine works with Android - was a bit wonky at first, but doing better after some updates!  I LOVE MINE - Touchscreen is AWESOME!!!  Wishing screen was a bit bigger.  Chromebooks are perfect computers unless you need to run programs like Quicken, Photoshop, etc.

would this product be able to run a game such as minecraft?

Have done some research on this. the C100 runs the Google operating system called Chrome OS. You cannot run Minecraft on that. It is possible to install a second operating system (Linux). Then you can start the Chromebook to use Linux. On Linux you can run Minecraft. But if you want to use the C100 as a Chromebook again you will have to restart the C100.
