does this come pre loaded with microsoft office, excel and powerpoint?

No. Just a trial version. Should note that the battery is non- removable and also no access to the hard drive. The touchpad is a little clunky. There are no system recovery discs & no way to make them. Had to backup with Windows Backup and make a system image. Other than those things I like the laptop. The processor is pretty fast & performs well.

It does not come with a case. It just comes in the box its shipped with. You would have to get a laptop bag/case separately.

Do you know what kind of RAM it is? Like is it 2 sticks of 2GB RAM, 4x1GB RAM, 1x4GB RAM, and how easy is it to replace? Thanks!

This unit comes with 4gb of ram built onto the motherboard, which is not upgradeable or replaceable. It also has a single SODIMM slot which is accessible behind a single screw cover on the bottom of the unit. You can plug in a single 204-pin SODIMM DDR3L ram module, up to 8gb, for a possible total of 12gb ram. "DDR3L" is key here. The "L" stands for low voltage (1.25-1.35v) and standard voltage (1.5v) will not work. No, it does not. It comes in a box that is sturdy and has a handle, but it's not as small as a case might be.

If there is a fan, how loud is it and how often does it turn on?

I put in a SSD, and this thing is perfectly quiet.  The CPU clock automatically adjusts for processing power as needed, and the fan barely runs at all.  When it does, it is much quieter than previous laptops i've owned.  The bottom side also stays very cool to the touch.  The loudest noise it makes is when a disc is popped into the DVD drive and spins up.

4gb built into the motherboard... Their is one open slot underneath that you can add up to an additional 8gb ram module for a total of 12gb...

This unit has a single SODIMM slot accessible through a single screw cover on the bottom of the unit.  4gb is built into the motherboard, and another 4gb can be added.  DDR3L ("L" = low votage) is required.

I don't think it is has any extra room, plus if I remember correctly it does not even have access panels, I think you have to pop the whole thing apart to even get in to it. I don't see many laptops with an extra bay for ssd or hdd. You may want to google that question on the internet and see what pops up.
